Backstory:

A yuan-ti architect with a fascination for the Netherese, Vaaslia spent countless hours in tombs and crypts, studying the ancient people. She did her work perfectly, and both she and her brother were treated well in yuan-ti society. However, her family name held a secret. A fleck of emotion, present in both Vaaslia and her brother, cursed their perfect bloodline. For years, Vaaslia and her brother planned their escape from the yuan-ti society in secret, for they knew being discovered for their imperfections could cause irreparable damage. During their preparations, however, fate grew cruel. In her work, Vaaslia discovered an old document - one that claimed yuan-ti descended from humans, rather than the other way around. When she brought these findings to her superiors, they were less enthused than she. Considering it blasphemous, they gave her an ultimatum - tell no one about the document, or face execution. Determined to prove her theory correct, she abandoned the dreams she and her brother had shared and escaped on her own, with nothing more than a farewell note to remember her by. Once outside the walls, she took up life as a state alchemist and began her science work in a new direction - magic.
