Being of a reserved and private nature, Oliver is difficult to get to know as he often keeps to his own company and rarely initiates conversation. He is rather insensitive and blunt towards others as his strength is in logic rather than empathy, and usually comes off as cold, sometimes without the intent.

Oliver is pretty knowledgeable but favors practical and experience over theory. Impatient when it comes to learning, it is harder for Oliver to master spells but when he does they are fairly powerful. He doesn't like to be corrected or have his mistakes pointed out, and can become a little bitter if someone does so. He can be rather spontaneous, such as when he does manage to concoct a potion or charm, he often gets quite excited. Too add to this, Oliver can get involved in risky behavior when he is bored of a task etc, leading to unnecessary boundary-pushing, which in times can put himself and others in danger if he lost control of the situation.

He has a habit of taking over other peoples projects if he sees them struggling, mainly for his own benefit to show his skill and practice. Influenced by his primary school friends, Oliver gained a prejudiced outlook on blood status, finding that pure bloods are superior-- though he himself is half-blood, he makes it out that he is pure. Although seeming quite the serious type, Oliver has a cheeky and childish streak to him as he enjoys to pull silly pranks on others occasionally.

Born to a moderately wealthy half-blood father of Irish decent and a half-blood British mother, Oliver was raised in a magic and success driven family. Being the middle child of a sister 8 years his senior and a brother 2 years his junior, Oliver was given the responsibility of looking after Riley his younger sibling. They had a solid relationship until the time Riley at a young age, started demonstrating he was gifted in witchcraft, a gift that had not yet been given to Oliver.

Their parents began to dote on Riley and to Oliver, it seemed like they preferred Riley and disregarded him, and thus he developed an inferiority complex towards his younger brother. Oliver gained his magical abilities at a later age and was relieved after years of thinking he may have been a squib, though he wanted to catch up with his brother, he became very distant in return to gain knowledge quickly through study and practice.

In his first year of Hogwarts, Oliver was sorted into Ravenclaw house, whereas majority of his friends from Primary made Slytherin. Without a friend group and after developing an introverted and brooding demeanor, Oliver had trouble joining a circle of friends within his house. In third year of Hogwarts his brother was a new entrant, and upon being sorted, he made it into Slytherin.
