When she was taken, she was brought into a scientific facility that operated under the nose of the government that performed expiriments on humans and animals of the like to see if crystaline structures could potentially regenerate lost body parts or heal wounds. Subject 0, Opaline, was the first human candidate to take on the role of the procedure that had since only been performed on animals... with varied results. The scientists removed her leg from the knee down and implamented the crystaline structure infused with animal DNA into her own. After the procedure, results were not to the scientists liking and no regrowth had been initiated. Opal fled the facility after learning that they had plans to dispose of her like a lab rat.
