She/her / Enderman turned Robot turned half dragon forsaken by their creator
Backstory:
Laika started her life as an Enderman and was raised in The End. An only child of two mothers--an inventor and a Noble (their names lost to time). Laika often snuck into the inventor's lab to mess with her supplies--being a tinkerer at heart. And loved learning about history of the End and of other places with her Noble mother. But at the end of the day, she was one out of many and there wasn't anything special about her. She was just like everyone else!
The Endermen used to be a very advanced culture in The End, living alongside robots that had been created with the help of their god, Zenith. The Endermen held great knowledge and shared it with those who were willing to visit their lands. Zenith gave them the ability to create life, through robot cores and giving them the knowledge they needed to preserve it.
One day when Laika was playing at the edge of the void, she fell into the dark expanse. She was swallowed up whole. There wasn't anything aside from the dark. It was a long time before help game, finding Laika badly damaged by the effects of the void. Crumbling away and loosing themselves more each day.
The inventor tried everything so that her daughter could live on. But even with that and the Noble's influence--Laika kept getting sicker. Nothing was working. There was no cure and if nothing were to be done and Laika wouldn't make it.
Zenith visited the Inventor, giving her an choice, a price for letting Laika live. The choice was obvious. Laika was put into one of the unused prototypes for the robots and came to life. One of the less advanced models and with a lot of limitations but,, alive at least, right?
Laika acted like she had been before! Except,, there were slight things missing. Not having certain memories, or having interest in the same things she had before. The Inventor was convinced this couldn't've been her daughter and was betrayed by the god she had trusted. Given back a fake replica. The Noble didn't think that way, greatful for Zenith's kindness and was greatful for Laika to be there at all! Not knowing of The Inventor's deal. But that didn't matter.
Laika was now a machine. Mind more regulated and robotic--stilted as the was now code mandated how to act and respond and whatnot. Laika was not able to fufill the new expectations of being a robot and not be how she used to act.
This was until Zenith, their god, went into a rage. The endermen had (to her words) SQUANDERED her gift and she scorched the land to ash. Resulting in the fall and the isolation of the End Dimension. It slowly corrupted the Endermen and turned them into the beasts that they are today. This also went to the robotic cores, corrupting the robots into husks of their former selves.
But not Laika,, not yet,,
Laika at this moment was meeting with The Inventor once more, a small argument turned into a fight. Laika asked why she wasn't cared for anymore? She was still there! Made of wires and code but still heself! The Inventor was convinced the robot in front of her was an ill copy trying to mimic her daughter.
Laika lost it and--she doesn't quite remember what happened.
Reguardless. There was nothing left in the End for her. Laika steals one of the ships that they had around--driving it into the void and the End taking its last visitor for a thousand years.
Laika crashed into the Overworld and loss of directive, any home, any purpouse. Laika's system crashed and her core badly damaged (ripped out?). Laika was there in the smoldering ship. Alone and Forgotten.
[SEASON 1]
Unaware of the time that has passed, Laika wakes up to RNG discovering her ship and quickly sees him as a friend. She meets other people that live close and nearby and gets to know them near and dearly! The only strange thing about this place was that,, nobody truly died. If they got "died" they would come back, no harm, no foul! Strange.
It doesn't take long for things to go off the rails, as RNG has been collecting the materials to open up the end--as it was their programming. A God of Knowledge and Power, Godl is the God of the end and relegated to the Nether. He knows The End's Knowledge was sealed away and encourages RNG to pursue this.
Laika knows the End is dangerous. She can't,,, remember how she got to the Overworld and the downfall of Zenith. But one thing is clear, it's Dangerous and going back would spell ruin and disaster.
In the mean time, Laika makes friends with Koipa, a friendly hermit from a mushroom island; Alexandra, a recluse Russian afflicted with a golden midas touch; and Jack, a banished jester from a castle far away; and a god of Gold--Godl for short--relegated to the Nether but able to speak through golden armor. Laika and Koipa helped gather dozens and dozens of stacks of dirt for Alexandra's new home and along with other escapades like that! Everything was perfect!
Laika had some issues with one of her arms, and in an effort to help repair it, Alexandra cursed her arm with gold. But,, being a robot it didn't affect her, in fact made the injury nullified!
When RNG reveals to Laika of his plans to go to The End. She tries to stop it the best way she can by trying to break the needed elements for the porta--but is stopped by Godl. Godl was FURIOUS. Laika refused to stop her efforts of sabatoguing the End Mission. Godl tried to dispose of Laika, ending up cracking their face badly and loosing vision in one of their eye.
Alexandra came in the nick of time, promising she'd be able to steer Laika away from sabatoging things any further.
[SEASON 1- END EVENT]
Laika didn't want to go. She was more-or-less dragged in as she relived the traumatic memories of her past. The others explored the ruins, finding tidbits on Laika's past through journals of the Inventor and Noble and of Zenith herself. Zenith had been a benevolant god. The god of Life and Death. Those in her presence would not fear death and be given life and prospertity. Until she saw her own citizens as leeches and destroyed what she had made.
What nobody knew was that by killing the Ender Dragon--Zenith in her own monsterous state much like the Endermen--would cause their deaths to matter, to take affect on them. Alexandra makes the killing blow and everyone heads to the exit. Laika quickly takes the egg and sees everyone go into the portal one by one. Except for Koipa and RNG. But RNG starts to act strange,,,
RNG takes a change in tone. Less. Himself. Laika pushes Koipa into the portal, leaving her alone to face down RNG alone. But that wasn't him. His programming took ahold and now was the "Killswitch" initive.
Killswitch tries to convince Laika to give it over, he needed it for something. Something important. Laika threatens to destroy the egg if he laid a claw near it--but they both know she won't do that. It reaches a stand-still and Killswitch retreats further in the end, leaving Laika alone. The only thing to do was to go through the portal back to the Overworld.
[...]
The End Event ended terribly. The only thing protecting Laika from the ire of Godl and the rest of the SMP was the Ender Dragon Egg she held in her possession--preventing her death and the thing now causing the collapse of the server.
Alexandra could not assure Laika's Safety anymore when Godl's wrath was to a standstill. Organizing the End Expidition and not able to see the knowledge that was kept in the dimension. Godl demanded to know where RNG was, and for the Ender Egg in Laika's posession. There wasn't much he could do when Laika was using the egg's protection.
Laika removed her golden arm in an effort to disuade Godl from hunting her down. Laika still ran though, as she always did. Always had done. Ending up all alone. Being left to figure out how in the world she was going to fix what she felt like she was responsible for--dooming everyone's death.
And the guilt of not being able to stop them. She could have. And she didn't.
[SEASON 2]
With Zenith's Death and the opening of the end, the characters that have been in a sense of immortality in relation to spawn/the ender portal now have a limited amount of lives. Not a number, though. Each time they want to go back. they'll have to give up something dear to them. And Laika will be the arbitor of this, being the one to say the bad news and force them to give up something,,, unless they didn't want to come back. Not like they'll remember. But it still takes its toll. Tis the curse of the Ender Dragon Egg holder.
Laika was intent on this being an isolating endevour as she ran far far away and ended up in a desert. All alone. Like it was always supposed to be.
But people kept visiting her--Jack, at first ran away from Alexandra as she had continued to spiral and had made a lab for experiments. Jack and Laika lived as weird roommates as Laika took him in and they became better friends. Jack taught her what real "human" food was and Laika tasked Jack with some chores but they worked on things together!
At the fact of Koipa going mad and being put into jail, Laika broke in and broke Koipa out. Taking him in for a short period of time before spending his time with RNG. Who was,, back to normal? Laika couldn't believe that. And kept her distance.
Time goes on and Laika's learning more about the Ender Dragon Egg. Experiments, notes, learning the system. The results are not pretty. And in the night one lonely night, Jack took the egg to try and ease some of her worries. With no egg, Laika could stop fretting to much. STOLE it from her. Laika tracked Jack down and Jack tried to reason with her. It escelated. Jack was dead. Just like the inventor. Just like how it was long ago--
[SEASON 2- DRAGON LAIKA]
Laika was far enough at that point that it didn't hurt until after the fact. With the Ender Dragon egg embeded in her chest and dragon limbs and tail to boot. Laika was aware enough of her surroundings to see anything oncoming as a threat.
RNG, Koipa and Alexandra fought against the Dragon Beast that was now Laika and took her down. Removing the egg from her chasis and took Laika deep underground of Alexandra's lab to escape Godl's eye.
Laika didn't wake up and their internals were too damaged at the start. Like she was dead. Laika had to undergo severe repairs. Alexandra and Koipa spent months reading and researching into old Enderian robotics to repair her.
Laika eventually woke up. Now kept in another prison. A recreation of the End to try and ease her recovery but it ends up making it worse. Laika is grappling on if she truly is the same person she was before now. And what makes it worse is that Koipa is seemingly the only one that sees hope in this disheartened Laika now. Now that Laika knows everything,, and how powerless she is to stop the impending doom. But maybe having one friend supporting her is enough...
