Rusty is a young boy who lives in a Victorian city. He was born with the gift of light and uses this power to make street lamps glow brighter, lift people's spirits, and spread joy and love wherever he goes. He is very childish and a little absent minded, always causing trouble, but he means well.

I created his character back in April of 2014 for a Neopets pet application. He's very near and dear to my heart, and will never leave my sight. Be sure to check out his literatures for his bio and more stories!

History

Rusty lives a sheltered life in a city he absolutely adores. He's a happy-go-lucky, optimistic kid who doesn't know it yet, but he is the spirit of his city, Laetia. Rusty's life isn't perfect, but he is is a happy kid. He comes from a working class family and works as a delivery boy for a little extra money. But then one day, his city is invaded by its enemies from the north and crumbles around him.

Rusty is knocked completely off guard because, here he was, living a happy life where the closest thing he had ever come to being in a dangerous situation was when he read stories about daring adventurers. Now all of a sudden, he is thrown into a very cruel world no one had ever told him existed. He tries in vain to find his family, but eventually realizes if he doesn't leave soon, he will die. He escapes from the danger and runs away from Laetia which now lies in ruins. This whole story is basically about what happens when the spirit of optimism, happiness, hope, and light is thrown into darkness.

Rusty eventually learns to come to terms with what happened through the lessons of the people he meets. He becomes a wanderer who travels from place to place spreading hope and light wherever he goes.

In the end, Rusty finally realizes that he is the spirit of his city. Although he went through hardship, she kept looking at the stars. No matter what happenes, Laetia is still alive. No one can take that away.

Although he travels a lot, he likes to spend a great deal of time in Neovia. It reminds him of his home city, and he's met some amazing friends there who have helped him cope with his losses.

Rusty's story is about hope. It's about learning that there's always a light at the end of the tunnel, and no matter how dark things may seem, everyone has enough light in thier hearts to pull thorough.
