Masen Wakari

Personality: Loyal and will have your back to the ends of the earth if you mean anything to him, but far from a kind and honorable. In many ways he’s a gloryhound seeking to prove himself and leave a lasting impression on the world, preferably a good one, but he’s not above using some rather underhanded means to do so. Outspoken even to those above him and it often gets him into trouble when he ‘forgets’ to keep his mouth shut. Will often do good things for the wrong reasons.

Backstory (FETE): Wanted to be a knight but his dad who was an important knight in Aksera went HAHAHA no so Masen was like fuck u dad and paraded around without a shirt but not really I'm too lazy to write this rn

Backstory (Rhakshiva): Inherited his bodyguard spot due to his father’s training and recommendation. Illegitimate son, his father was a contractor and bodyguard and his mother was a trader that traveled from island to island. His birth was mostly unannounced due to the whole thing being a young and impulsive fling, but once Masen was old enough to not need his mother she pushed him off on his father as a trader could not make a living and keep an eye on a child on her own.
This was very awkward for his father as he now had a son he knew nothing about that barely looked like him, but he did feel some importance in not abandoning his own flesh and blood and so Masen was taken under his wing. Having a pretty impressive pool of essence despite his half breed status and his father intending to teach his son his profession early on he took him to a priest to partner him with a spirit in order to be contracted later. The horrible thought was that if Masen did not survive then it would be sad, but he probably wouldn’t be devastated as he didn’t have a strong attachment due to the circumstances.
Thankfully the contracting bond went well and Masen was trained diligently in combat from a young. His education was largely through private tutors or personally with his father as the man was pretty wealthy or at least well connected. due to his mixed blood and his father’s often high standards he fought his whole life for recognition, and even with his good position as Nahliv’s bodyguard effectively secured he still has a lot of insecurity of others not thinking him worthy of the spot.
