Gabe

Gabe was born to a loving family of foxes in a small wooded valley, and lived there with his parents and six siblings. However, when he was just a kit, his family was captured by a group of hunters trying to profit off of their valuable pelts. As one of the hunters tried to make a grab at the young Gabe, his mother dove in front of him and chomped down on the man's finger, buying Gabe just enough time to run out of harm's way.

Gabe spent the next several years wandering the feral lands where he was born, learning the ways of the wild foxes there, and searching desperately for his family. While he didn't find any living relatives, he did accidentally stumble upon something great and powerful: the World Portal.

Hidden thousands of years ago by the Ancients, the World Portal was believed to be a myth. Until Gabe unearthed the truth. It was said that those who stepped into the World Portal would be transported to other civilisations, or possibly other universes altogether. When Gabe stepped in for the first time, he immediately felt his body begin to shift. By the time he arrived at his destination, he hardly recognised himself anymore. Gabe learned to walk on his hind legs, speak the language of Humans, and, most importantly, he learned about the existence of music.

From the moment Gabe rested his paws on the piano, he was in love. He didn't care what genre, what style, or what tempo. He just played. He composed, he studied. Eventually, this music unlocked his path back to his home. You see, soon after Gabe began playing the piano, he noticed that when he played music, the diamond mark on his left paw began glowing and pulsing. At first, this scared him. After a while, however, he found comfort in its soft glow, and disregarded the marking as he played.

The longer Gabe played, the brighter the mark seemed to glow. And the brighter the mark grew, the more entranced Gabe became with his song. Pretty soon, the light from the mark filled to room, and Gabe had to close his eyes to stop from being blinded. Suddenly, the light seemed to fade. When Gabe cautiously opened his eyes again, he was lying on his back, amid a familiar field of grass, surrounded on four sides by an open box. Laying on all sides around him were his feral friends (who seemed caught between a state of shock and confusion at the moment). It took Gabe but a moment to realise he'd woken up at his own funeral.

It's been several years since that day. Gabe travels freely between the feral lands and the realms of humankind, walking of four paws or two, making music or making friends, laughing or crying, playing or cuddling. No matter where he is, however, he always leaves a mark on the lives of others.
