At first glance Perran seems like a very shy and withdrawn kind of person, but once you start getting to know him you'll realise he's actually quite a friendly and talkative person, and he's a bit of a nerd as well with several interests, the main one being coin collecting, not just of other countries but other planets too. After that his next biggest interest is learning about other planets in general, especially stuff like their species and geography, and he also enjoys Earth folk music and cooks as a hobby.

Now you might assume that most if not all of these interests of his are unrelated, but actually all of them are at least partially due to the fact that his maternal grandfather was actually a human who was originally from Cornwall, England that would visit Perran a lot when he was younger and tell him stories about his old home, and hearing these tales filled him with awe, inspiring him to take influences from its culture and even learning a little of the language.
