Shéng is all about his job first above everything else, including both the wellbeing of others and himself. He takes his role as Overseer and, now, protector of the land (in his mother's and sister's absence) extremely seriously. His role as Overseer consumes his entire existence, making him into a workaholic at heart. Shéng is willing to eliminate anyone or anything he deems an obstacle to the balance of the world as his mother would have wanted it.
Created by The Creator, along with his sister Yui (The First Soul Reaper), as her son and company, Shéng always made sure to follow his mother's direction for him and the world. As The Overseer, he was in charge of the Essence of Time, and, with the full moon's allowance, looked into the future to assist the wellbeing of the Living Plane. However, when the Black Infection, takes both his mother and sister away from him, Shéng turned his back on the living beings of the world, blaming them for his family's ultimate demise. He vowed he would do anything to bring his family back to life.
He used pieces of himself and others to fuel the Essence of Life in order to fulfill his goals. Even creating his children, Fuego and Liang, to ensure his plans would go smoothly, using them as the chess pieces they were.
