Caelum was born and raised in Basinshire, the capital located in The Kingdom of Noressea. He is the firstborn son of the current king and is supposedly the crown prince. In Caelum's world, there consists of light energy and light mages while dark energy and dark mages are considered extremely rare and a taboo, or even a defect as the people of the nation would call them. Furthermore, one who's born with dark energy unfortunately has to go through public execution or simply killed. Caelum was born with 80% dark energy, so the palace had to keep his existence a secret. Since no one knew about him, he had the opportunity to attend school under his real name, Stephanos J. Winchester, which he despises. Although his father made the decision to use his real name, it was important that no one would find out that he was the crown prince. The king planned to reveal his identity to the public once he graduated from mage school and learned how to properly suppress the dark energy. When going out, Caelum would often suppress this energy with the use of drugs and had been using it since elementary school with the dosages increasing up until high school.

as a student

Since he still had 5% light energy, it was possible for him to fool others into thinking he was just a weak student, which is half true as he does have weak light energy. In mage school, Caelum usually took naps up, eat and just prefers to be on the rooftop. That was where he spent most of his school days, from the first year to his current year, the fourth. Having dark energy only made things complicated in class, which was why he chose to isolate himself from his instructors and classmates. He wasn't an exceptional student or anything like that. Caelum was pretty average, although he was in the brink of failing all the practical tests.

too much to handle

It wasn't until his fourth and final year at mage school where he realized it was becoming harder to suppress his dark energy. Taking higher dosages to suppress it would only result in negative side affects. Caelum would often have nosebleeds and pounding headaches, sometimes even hyperventilating. It was becoming dangerous for him to be outside for extensive periods of time. Despite that, he had to graduate and he had to find a way to properly suppress his dark energy, especially if the king planned to reveal his identity to the public. In the end, Caelum pushed through and continued to attend high school. Though, school life was rather boring, until he met an annoyance by the name of Elara while he was minding his business and trying to take a nap on the rooftop. She forcefully dragged him into volunteer work. He continued to go along with it out of pity for the poor girl but found himself slowly warming up to the idea. Caelum told himself that he shouldn't get too close and make this volunteer work the last time he would interact with others. However, they both ended up spending more time with each other and as much as he wanted to deny it, it was fun hanging out with Elara. *NEEDS TO BE FIXED*

making decisions

As Caelum kept suppressing his dark energy, the side effects became quite noticeable to others in the palace. The king and other authorized higher-ups noticed the dangers and possibilities of getting found out, therefore noted it was time to summon Caelum. The king further announced that Caelum had two options, to either get exiled from the capital and change his identity, or to secretly get executed behind the public's back since that was 'still the law'.  Both options required Caelum to give up his position as the crown prince, though he wasn't all that interested in that role to begin with. The king, his father, gave him some time to think about it and excused him. Once he returned back to his dorm, he spent the rest of his school days thinking about what he could do and what was the best decision to make. Elara noticed a change in Caelum's mood but thought it was best to not bring it up. Instead she continued to be her usual cheerful self, hoping that it would make him feel better and reassured him that she would always be there for him. Caelum often would lose track of time, zoning out and deep in thought. He had little time to make such a life-changing decision. Furthermore, he didn't know if he should tell Elara everything just yet. On the day of Caelum's graduation, Elara confessed her love to him. He was shocked. He felt the same way for awhile now yet couldn't confess to her all this time. It was hard but he couldn't reject her. They spent their last few weeks together and after the ceremony, Caelum told her everything about him. She listened to his story and despite having dark energy, she didn't care at all. However, it was disheartening to know what he was holding in and what he was currently going through. In the end, he mustered up everything to tell her one last thing he kept to himself, that he would go by the name 'Caelum' and leave the city he once was born and raised in.
