an underlie fey of the winter court, anise is more commonly known among the withering folk as black annis. she is known as a sort of boogeyman who wanders through towns in the dead of night to kill and eat children. as with every fairytale, her's is shrouded in misunderstanding and half-truths. she does steal children sometimes yes, and she does eat people, but those two predilections rarely if ever intersect. she can hear the crying of children and usually their cries have causes, so at midnight when the border fence is at its weakest, she closes over into the withering realm and eats the source of their cries, spiriting the children away to somewhere better for them.
