About Alfine

13114956_oeYKOWmTmUnI4jx.gif?1554360089
「Personality」

A very caring and kind soul, Alfine—despite his magia being that of decay—loves caring for people, animals, and plants. However extra care is needed to control his magia as to not hurt what he intended to protect and nourish. Though seemingly docile due to his soft-spoken and gentle demeanor, he won't hesitate to fight enemies when it comes to protecting the ones he cares about. Despite his sheltered upbringing Alfine has a thirst for adventure, unfortunately it’s a thirst yet to be quenched as his god-given missions are cooking, brewing tea, gardening, and taking care of the house.

Alfine is born male but sometimes doesn't identify himself as one especially when he wears androgynous or feminine clothing. As far as Alfine is concerned, "Alfine is Alfine", but doesn't mind being referred to as either male or female by others due to his androgynous physique and personal outlook towards his own gender.

Background

「Setting」

In an apocalyptic future where the population of humans declined, modern cities were reduced to ruin; what little survivors were left went into hiding from monsters that are only husks of humans. These husks may have the shape of a human but no longer bear the mind of a human being. The gods took pity in the mortals despite them scourging the earth and causing the devastation to all living beings. In their mercy and love for humanity, they granted mortals who they found worthy to possess their flame to purge these husks with the hope of restarting the world anew.

「A tale of a child and a god」

Despite the harsh reality, Alfine grew up in a loving home in a small family of three. Though they were safe in their isolation by the mountains, having a humble farm to sustain themselves, Alfine's mother fell ill to an unknown disease and grew increasingly worse as time went by. Worried for his wife, the father left for the nearest village to look for medicine and a doctor to check her condition. However he never returned. Alfine at the age of seven, took over in caring for his mother as well as their livestock. Knowing her future would be ill-fated, she did what she could to teach her child how to live on his own with whatever time she had left.

One day a stranger fell unconscious by their doorstep, despite the woman's trepidation she urged her child to help her with bringing the stranger in and nursing him...or at least making his final moments comfortable. The man looked as though he would die from his sustained injuries, but to the woman's surprise it didn't take long for him to recover as he started walking around as quickly as a day. Though he was a quiet man and seemingly unfriendly at first, he would willingly help with any task when the woman asked or when both mother and child are having a hard time on their own. Because of this, she told him it was alright for him to stay as long as he wanted. For a while it seemed as though things were getting better until the mother passed away due to her illness. Promising to smile for his mother till her final moments, the child only cried after burying her in the garden. Having previously promised the woman that he would care for the child, the stranger stayed.

Several years passed by peacefully as Alfine and the man developed an unusual yet deep-rooted friendship. As Alfine grew into teenhood, he always found it strange that the man seemed as though he never aged throughout the years, but it didn't matter to him as long as their mundane days and companionship continue between them. Though that peace would be broken when husks invaded the mountain. In an attempt to protect the man and help the animals escape, Alfine was gravely injured. Just as he thought he could meet his parents again, the man rushed towards him and cradled his cold and nearly lifeless body.

Suddenly a dark yet warm flame enkindled inside and enveloped his body from within . . .

When Alfine regained full consciousness, he found himself in an unfamiliar rustic yet strangely welcoming home...and having developed horns, longer ears and strange patterns all over their body. Before panic and confusion would set in, the man sat by his bedside and told him that he was given life anew as a god's vassal blessed by dark flames. The man he knew for years was actually a god all along. Without hesitation, Alfine swore loving fealty to the god for as long as he lives.
