Other: Being born as the son of a king in a distant land, he joined a band of trappers to earn money and prove his worth to his father. While on a trip to reset some of the traps his party was attacked by a large beast, the majority of his party were killed as they attempted to flee. His face was permanently scarred and he devoted himself to hunting the beast that did so. Along the way he collected bounties and made a profit. 

When he brought his fortune to the king, he was belittled and ignored by the king as the king refused to accept a son born to the former queen (who had vanished, so the king remarried). Instead the king ordered him to be dragged out of the palace and took his fortune.  This infuriated Artemis and he attempted to attack the king but one of the king's sons stopped him. The king nearly ordered Artemis to be killed right there and then but instead he exiled him. Artemis left in fury, and decided to flee to the great empire ruled by King Victor. He gave King Victor all of the information on his kingdom that he could in hopes to be in his favor. Instead King Victor cast him aside and used the information to invade and conquer Artemis's kingdom. 

While Artemis felt betrayed and would attack anyone related to royalty as a result of his experiences, he turned back to hunting the beast that had begun it all.
