Backstory:

Violet's childhood was essentially the same as her counterpart from the MCU, Violet Spark, minus the teleportation powers. Things really started to diverge shortly after she turned 16, when her parents died in a car crash. After that, she went to live with her maternal uncle, since he was the only family she had in the area. He hadn’t really been in contact with Violet’s family for several years, mostly because her mom didn’t approve of his shady business practices. Soon after, Violet visited the company he worked at, Oscorp. She slipped away to snoop around an experimental lab, which is where she got bit by an obligatory radioactive spider. (Peter B gained his spider powers 5 years prior to this, and is 5 years older than Violet). While getting accustomed to her new powers, she managed to prevent a car crash, which becomes the main catalyst for her deciding to be a superhero.

Violet and Spider-man cross paths pretty soon into her superhero career, showing up at a lot of the same crime scenes or public disasters. After spontaneously teaming up during those kinds of situations, eventually they start to collaborate more. Violet has trouble with teamwork at first since she’s used to functioning solo, but they make it work. A lot of flirting goes on between them, and eventually they reveal their identities to each other-- she is less concerned about it and unmasks first, which makes Peter feel more at ease about removing his. (In this reality he never married MJ, they were engaged in the past but broke it off.) Their relationship develops from teammates to friends to romantic partners very gradually over time, almost to the point where they’re not exactly sure when they officially started “dating.” They just hang out at burger joints together like they always have, except now they also kiss.

The Spider-verse

Shortly before the events of Into the Spider-verse, Violet is beginning to crack under the pressures of superhero life. At this point, she and Peter had broken up, both needing some space to work on invididual self-improvement. As a result, she's feeling very alone and takes more comfort in alcohol than she probably should. When the collider is activated from Miles' universe, she is pulled from her reality and lands in the MCU. She soon meets an alternate version of herself, Violet Spark, and crashes at her place until they figure out a way to send Vspider back home. Interacting with Vspark turns out to be a good experience for both of them, causing them to self-examine and learn a bit about themselves. When she manages to get back to her own universe, she reunites with Peter and they rekindle their relationship.

Personality:

Violet Spider's personality is relatively identical to her dopplegangers, but with a handful of slight differences, due to their diverging life experiences. She is more cynical and sarcastic than her younger counterpart, but hasn't completely lost her heroic streak either. She's also considerably more fond of alcohol. Despite her "suck it up" attitude, she's not completely lacking in compassion, but prefers a realist (though sometimes pessimistic) outlook instead of sugarcoating things.
