Profile
Ignis is an Ancient Akuma (Original Gakuian), one of the ultra-rare primordial Music Demon spirits that predate most recorded history in both the human world and Symphony Gardens. He and his brother Hades are among the oldest known entities of their kind—ancient forces that emerged from the raw, chaotic musical essence of the infernal realms before the great Hell Wars pushed pure Music Demons to the outer rings of the class system.
Appearance
Ignis typically inhabits a tall, lean, androgynous (intersex, as is standard for pure Gakuaians) body that he has reshaped over centuries to suit his tastes. His preferred form is strikingly elegant yet intimidating: deep crimson skin with subtle, glowing ember-like patterns that pulse like musical notations across his torso and limbs. He has sweeping, obsidian-black horns that curve backward like a conductor’s baton, sharp predatory teeth, and a long, powerful tail ending in a flame-like tuft that shifts with his mood. His back features the signature holes from which he can extrude incredibly strong metallic threads/strings for combat, flight, or manipulation.
Music-note birthmark tattoos cover parts of his body, often shimmering with inner heat. Because he cannot see in the conventional sense (no functional eyes in the usual way—his sockets appear as smooth, faintly glowing voids or covered by stylized markings), he perceives the world through advanced heat signatures, infrared-like sensing, and motion tracking. This gives his “gaze” an eerie, predatory quality: he tilts his head slightly when focusing, as if listening to the thermal rhythm of living things around him. In low-light or chaotic environments, he is terrifyingly effective. He can also shift to a less demonic, more human-passing form when needed, though it retains feline-inspired grace and subtle heat-glow accents.
Personality and Role
Ignis is the more outward brother—charismatic, theatrical, and bold compared to the more reserved or calculating Hades. He thrives on performance, interaction, and stirring the pot. Ignis loves the spotlight (literally and figuratively), often using his siren song abilities in grand, hypnotic displays. He is flamboyant, witty, and enjoys making deals or contracts with a dramatic flair. While not outright malevolent like the Bidingly family, he is unpredictable and self-serving; his ancient nature makes him view most modern beings (hybrids, humans, even younger demons) as fleeting notes in a much longer symphony. He is protective of Hades in his own way but frequently drags his brother into schemes or adventures.
He wanders between realms, sometimes riding the Creature Train for amusement, frequenting places like the Malicious Delicious café (where he is tolerated as a quirky patron) or causing minor chaos at the Bared Teeth Casino when he feels like toying with Kaida Bidingly’s operations. Ignis has loose ties to organizations like Majimaku when it suits him and finds T.H.E.I.F.’s hacker antics amusing, occasionally feeding them cryptic hints about the Queen/King of Symphony Gardens just to watch the fallout.
Abilities (Enhanced by Ancient Status)
As an Original Gakuian, Ignis possesses all standard Music Demon traits plus amplified ancient power:
- Siren Song: Hypnotic singing that can entrance crowds or individuals; his version carries ancient weight, potentially rewriting short-term memories or implanting suggestions that last longer.
- String Manipulation: Threads from his back are stronger, faster, and can carry thermal energy—burning or cauterizing on contact.
- Thermal/Motion Vision: Sees heat signatures with incredible detail (distinguishing species, emotional states via body heat fluctuations, and even faint magical residues). Movement appears as vivid trails, making him nearly impossible to sneak up on or hide from in most conditions. He struggles in environments with extreme uniform heat or total stillness.
- Body Alteration & Possession: Can reshape his host body dramatically or switch hosts if needed (though he prefers his current long-term vessel). Harmony with the host is usually maintained unless provoked.
- Contract Mastery: Ancient contracts he makes carry heavier binding power.
- Transformation/Partial Demonic Form: Can amplify his demonic features for combat.
- Weaknesses: Shares species vulnerabilities (snake venom, overwhelming loud sounds disrupting his song, tail severance being potentially fatal, etc.). His vision reliance can be exploited by specialized illusions or total sensory deprivation.
- Extreme Heat manipulation: can heat up his body to high temps
Backstory
Ignis and Hades originated in the primordial infernal layers as pure musical essences—spirits born from the first discordant and harmonious notes of creation in the demon realms. They were once part of a higher patriarchal order among Music Demons but became disillusioned (or simply bored) during the Hell Wars. While many of their kind were driven to the outer rings of Symphony Gardens, the brothers chose a different path: they became wandering Akumas, seeking worthy or interesting vessels to inhabit across eras.
Ignis was always the more proactive one. In ancient times, he frequently took bold hosts—warriors, performers, and leaders—shaping their bodies to reflect his flamboyant will. He reveled in influencing human and demon societies through music, deals, and subtle manipulations. Hades, by contrast, preferred subtler, longer-term possessions or spirit-only observation. The brothers have a deep bond forged in eternity, often reuniting after centuries apart to share stories or pursue joint goals. Ignis frequently acts as the “face” and instigator in their relationship.
Over millennia, Ignis has crossed paths with many forces in the current era of Symphony Gardens. He views the Bidingly family’s experiments (including Kaida’s man-made “Fake Gakuaians”) with a mix of amusement and mild disdain—seeing them as crude imitations of true ancient essence. He may have indirectly influenced or observed the creation of hybrids like Myers Katabiss, finding her situation intriguing (a hybrid protector of demons, unknowingly tied to greater powers). Ignis is aware of the mystery surrounding the Queen/King of Symphony Gardens and enjoys dropping enigmatic hints, sometimes aligning temporarily with Musika or even Euro Warren’s schemes if they promise entertainment or valuable “notes” in the grand composition.
His current long-term host was claimed centuries ago—a willing or conquered vessel that he has refined into his ideal form. He travels the islands of Symphony Gardens, the human world via the train, and occasionally interferes in the affairs of hybrids, vampires (especially Kaizer’s bio-engineered ones), and tattoo beings out of curiosity. Ignis’s ultimate drive is artistic and experiential: to experience every variation of the eternal symphony, protect the rare harmonious notes he values (including his brother), and occasionally disrupt discordant ones for fun.
Ignis could serve as a wildcard ally, mentor, or complicating antagonist in Myers’ journey—perhaps offering cryptic guidance about her true nature in exchange for a favor, or clashing with the Bidinglys while pursuing his own ancient agenda. He remains a free spirit, outward and unapologetic, forever conducting his personal opus across two dimensions.
