On the surface level Lucy seems like the perfect doting housewife that all of the men in town dream for. Always smiling, does what she is told, and always looks presentable. Never arguing, no fighting, faithful,  just accepting. Her husband is the only person for her in this light. 

Once you take away that layer you can see the anger and disgust to her husband and her "job". She has quite a lot of sass and backtalk in her, not easily backing down on what she wants to do. Rather die doing what she loves than spending all her time doing what she hates. And what she'll die doing is having a hand wrapped around her girlfriend. 

In the town of Hillford there are high expectations of every citizen, to uphold the happy and peaceful town that people expect when they visit. Many family style shows are filmed there due to the "perfect" atmosphere Hillford neighborhoods have for the white picket fence life. It's under the mayor's watchful eye that the majority of the citizens follow this lifestyle so more people will visit and hopefully move into. If you don't follow this you are seen as an outcast and failure.

Lucy was raised in the expectation she was supposed to follow this norm, despite her not wanting to. She didn't want to have a family, she didn't want a husband. In her mind it sounded overrated and fake, she knew what she wanted. She enjoyed having fun with no one telling her what to do, no one breathing down her neck. But that's not was allowed. Women got married and did what their husbands say. So she acted out; going out with friends, going to parties, and dating girls. This is how she found out she wasn't attracted to men. 

Her parents weren't happy with how much she was acting out, so they did what most parents did. They started looking for the perfect man for their daughter to marry. To their luck a lot of families wanted Lucy to marry their sons, due to the fact she had rare traits. At the age of 18 Lucy was married off to a 24 year old male inkdrian who was a lawyer. Much to the disgust of Lucy. Though her family threatened to disown her if she didn't make the marriage work, they have an image to keep up and an unruly daughter wouldn't help. Reluctantly Lucy agreed to the marriage.

After a few years of Lucy faking that she was happy it was getting harder and more tiring, so one night she sneaked out of the house and went to the local casino. There she met her girlfriend.
