 Main story: 
Born in the newly-built districts of Vermillion City*, Karin never had an issue going out and exploring because it was by then deemed safe enough even for little girls; but truth to be told, she had always been the quiet girl and never really longed for adventure. It was only because of her older sister, Larin, that she got dragged out here and there quite often.
Most of the times, the sisters would go out with the excuse to take on a stroll the family's Charmander (Lizardon), and it was one of those times that they, playing in the Diglett Cave, ended up nearby Pallet Town. They were attacked by wild Pokemon, but were already used to battling a bit with Lizardon and had no issues defending themselves.

Prof. Oak happened to see the little girls, and seeing the bond they had with the Charmander approached them and gave the two a starter Pokemon each, plus a Pokedex and a Trainer License to Larin, instructing Karin to get back to him once she was a bit older to get her own ones. Larin was totally hyper about it, and not much later she had started her own journey. 
Even though she was left at home, Karin really didn't mind it much; sure, she missed her sister, but was okay with focusing on her studies instead. She kept on with her private education and her piano+violin lessons, and during free time she strolled in the nearby routes with her Bulbasaur (Loleaf) and Lizardon for a bit of training.

After a few months of being like this, she had noticed that there was a certain Abra that, the rare times it was awake, kept observing and following her. Knowing from the many books she read that Abras were able to read minds to sense danger, she tried to forget about the little Pokemon, afraid that thinking often of it would scare it away. She was actually very curious about the Abra's presence, because she remembered it being a Pokemon living in Route 6 only in certain periods**, but still did her best to not observe it back.
One day, a very sleepy Loleaf accidentally stepped on a Meowth's tail, and the angry Pokemon called for reinforce; Karin found herself surrounded by a group of hissing Meowths, and even though Loleaf and Lizardon had leveled up a bit she stood no chanche to fight against so many Pokemon at once. Thankfully, the Abra stepped in and teleported the girl and her Pokemon to safety.
Karin was very grateful, and could sense the little guy wanted to stay with her, but not having a trainer license she wasn't allowed to catch a Pokemon, or to keep more than one as pet. So, she spent more time with the Abra, nicknamed him Elijah, and treated him as a Pokemon of hers: she would feed and groom him, bring it home from time to time, but to play it safe didn't train him and didn't allow him to sleep at home. Elijah proved to be quite patient and affectioned, and would wait until Karin could be a Trainer to finally join her for life.

Once Karin became ten, and traditionally of right age to become a Trainer, Larin stood up against it, and wouldn't let her sister get a license. Truth was, she was just worried for her little sister, but Karin took it the wrong way and stole Larin's Masterball, using it on an useless/common Pokemon***. Larin was very upset, because she had kept her Masterball saved for a Legendary Pokemon (Raikou) in order to help Diana complete the Pokedex, and for a while the two sisters tried to avoid contact.

It was shortly after, a matter of weeks, that Larin announced she was giving up on being a Trainer and allowed Karin to become one. Karin had no clue on Larin's exact motives, since she always loved being a Trainer, but understood that Diana had something to do about it. Without many questions, the young girl finally got her trainer license, got Elijah officially caught/registered, and started her journey. She would take things slowly, taking her time to learn and explore, but eventually Larin -being very vague- urged her to rush a bit more. Once Karin won Kanto's championship, she understood why: she was now able to meet Entei, and Diana had set her eyes on it. She learned that the roaming Pokemon were allowed only one at a time at Kanto, due to the region's own legendaries being rather aggressive, and now that Larin had got Raikou for Diana, the Hoenn girl wanted Entei as well...and then, after Karin had completed the task, Diana would have probably looked for another person able to get Suicune.
Karin however, didn't mind; she was only irked that her sister had given up being a trainer over such a petty matter, but she herself never particularly enjoyed being a Trainer and was already considering leaving that lifestyle. She eventually got Entei, traded it over, and then retired from her trainer career.****

Quite a few, uneventful years passed by, in which the only happenings were Karin moving to the Mt. Silver mansion like her sister and getting to know Argento and co. Here she especially met with Ash and started a loving little sister/big brother relationship, the two would really grew attached to each other as family. During the affair Larin and Ash she never butted in and tried her best to ignore, even if she enjoyed saying something mischievous/embarassing to the two here and there, but overall stayed out of it and still kept contacts with Ash even when Ash argued with Larin or when he ended up with Aida , their brotherly relationship stayed untouched.
During these years Karin resumed studying and found that her passion was in music and scents. She so decided to continue her studies to Kalos to specialize and get a job about it and moved to Laverre City (she was very curious about their legendary tree), and that's where she currently is. She still visits back home very often (surprisingly, it's not Larin but Ash the one who misses her the most) though!

*Since me and my sister have OCs both from RBGY and FRLG, and things work differently in them, we started dubbing the different versions as "Old Kanto" and "New Kanto", in which basically Kanto is the same, but the cities have some older, more risky ditricts (RBGY) and newer, more advanced and safe ones (FRLG)

***Basically I denied to my sister to use my Pokemon game, and she got her revenge snatching it up and wasting my Masterball in Larin's gameplay ;v;

****This is quite hard to explain; basically, just like happened with Argento/my Silver game, Diana/Sapphire was the most important game to me back then and any other game I had were basically her side bitches existing only to help her complete the Pokedex x,D Since I couldn't catch Raikou anymore due to lack of Masterball I transferred all Larin's Pokemon to Sapphire (still attached to the bae afterall;; ) and restarted he game as a "new" Larin with the sole puprose to get Raikou; at the same time, I got Entei with Karin and then resetted her game as well to get myself a Suicune. I kinda feel guilty to just wipe away my gals because of Diana, but I was a dumb kid....

Karin's starter Pokemon, gifted by Professor Oak. Loleaf may look intimidating, but is actually very chill and quite lazy, preferring sunbathing and relaxing with aromatherapy rather than battling. Highly prefers the sights in Laverre Town than what he was used to at Kanto. Wears a bowtie made of leaves+vines with a flower in the center. (more tba)

Karin's favorite/signature Pokemon, who saved her as a little Abra and stuck with her since. Elijah is very calm and collected, and especially very protective and nurturing. He enjoys taking care of others, even if he may look like so silent and kinda emotionless. What loves the most is hearing to Karin's piano playing, it always manages to soothe him and to somehow help his psychic powers. Wears a semi-transparent purple scarf pinned with a treble clef.
