"Get. OUT."

Previously shy and timid, researching for years on aggressive animals has turned him equally as aggressive, especially with his ability to morph into other beings or animals. Lu tends to keep his mouth shut as otherwise prompted he will run his mouth foul, challenging superior orders or snarling at anyone who comes to bother him. The only way to keep Lu calm is to force him to morph into a calm beast, but this effect only lasts for a few hours before the years of mimicry revert his personality back. He takes great pride in his research, so any form of mockery will result in a storm of angry words or possible lash out.

History

A beast researcher for an international environmental organization, Lu partakes in providing research on some of the rarest and most elusive of species. This is usually provided in areas of habitat, feeding practices, and other things necessary to better understand what these animals need so humanoid people don't encroach on their geographical locations.

Shy and Timid

Since Lu was a small child, his timid nature stopped him from creating friendships with long-lasting value. In addition, his ability to make these types of friends was always stopped by his morphing ability. Growing up, it took some time to control his abilities, scaring other children, adults, and himself.

Encouraged by his uncle to face his fears and start to understand his own powers and how they get activated, they slowly went through a list, trying different things out to see if the young Lu would react to them. They were able to eventually hone a process that allowed Lu to better control his ability considerably, where Lu became incredibly grateful for his uncle's help and constant support.

However, this did not help his shy personality. Making conversations with other was difficult, as his "training" to control his abilities, he never really made the time to work on his conversational skills. Wanting to better himself than that, he decided that perhaps mimicking certain animals would help him boost his confidence, after noticing that on a short-term basis, mimicking "confident" animals seemed to improve his outward display to others.

Slipping between Sanity and Insanity

Originally accepting a job as a biologist to study a type of dragon species, the further he delved his research into the habitat of the animal the more he encountered a rare type of beast. Quickly wrapping up his original work, he grew more facsinated by the beast as its nature was so... strange. Getting approval to study such a beast too made Lu even more excited... but not ready for the potential consequences that came after. His direct supervisor warned him of the potential dangers, forcing him to get some training in gun usage. Should he be on his own in his human form, having a gun would at least give him some assurance to survival, even if it was small.

Studying the beasts for the past years allowed him to learn a lot about how smart the beasts were, how they acted in regards to foreign entities coming close to their enclosure, and how aggressive they are in nature. In order to study them closer, he studied their habits and characteristics, eventually perfecting his technique in mimicry and getting to incredibly close distances. However, because he spent so much time as a beast, his way of thinking and thought process was slowly being stunted and more fixated on instinct. There were multiple times when Lu slipped out of consciousness, finding himself in completely different locations. Afraid that he would go too far and never revert back, he told fellow researchers a "code" that they would be able to identify and Lu and force him awake with it.

As only fellow researchers knew about his ani-morphing abilities, poachers who were interested in the same species could not tell the difference between Lu and the rest of the species. Considering this beast species rare and endangered due to habitat loss and poaching, Lu had to fend off the species on a multitude of times, sometimes resulting in scaring away the poachers when he reverted back into his human form... and more increasingly finding dead bodies of poachers killed by his own hands when he had slipped out of consciousness. Lu, if acting as a normal person, would have felt terrible for killing people by his own hands. But because he had spent so much time with these aggressive beasts, he could not longer feel any remorse.

Trivia

The "code" that he uses with fellow researchers to help him snap back into reality is a call. "Come here, Lulu!" his coworkers would call out, somewhat embarrassed, but glad that the call works so that they aren't shredded to pieces.

Standard and "Forbidden": There are the standard magics that most individuals can use (water, light, rune, potions, etc.), but there are also some magical arts that most people never attempt to learn because it is either considered 1) forbidden, 2) incredibly taxing, 3) ani-morphic, 4) ancient and too old to understand, or 5) curse magic. All "forbidden" magics can be learned, but there are a considerable amount of rules that are required to be followed without having any major repercussions. For example, if there was forbidden healing magic that rips a life and gives it to another with no repercussions, the individual may not be able to perform the ritual often or something inside their body disappears or that they cannot interact with another type of magic

"Forbidden" Magic - Ani-morphing: Ani-morphing requires the individual to morph into the targeted animal that would allow the user to use their abilities. However, if the user chooses to remain in that body for too long, they will 1) no longer turn back to how they used to be and 2) lose their sanity and take on the bestial instinct instead.

Lu is able to utilize the abilities of the animals that he studies, which can range to a large amount of magics, limited to the animal's own range and ability to exert. He most often uses his fighting skills when he comes into contact with an aggressive species, but will generally stay scowling in his human form when he has to report back to his organization. His magic, as he studied aggressive beasts, generally does not do well when he morphs in a public setting.
