Backstory:

Audryl is the young, half-elven son of lower middle class innkeepers. He was raised in their quiet village with little to distract him except work and the people he saw everyday. He quickly took to the family’s hired stablehand, Irilme, who lived in a standalone cottage on the land, and had an almost preternatural way with the horses. She was kind, if firm, and eagerly answered all of Audryl’s questions on horse care, husbandry, and training. Needless to say, Audryl developed a crush on Irilme fast. 

Around this time, everyone except Audryl realized the boy was a daydreaming, hopeless romantic, who many times could be seen smiling off into space, thinking about marrying Irilme and becoming a dashing cavalier, while his wife becomes a wildly successful horse breeder, supplying lords and kings, and himself, with powerful war destriers that would be written into song and legend… right up until he was called to chores or lessons. Audryl also thought he was a lot more sneaky than he actually was with his affections, and was oblivious to how uncomfortable the obvious crush made Irilme, who was a good 8 years his senior.

With the arrival of Sir Viris, Audryl found a new person to focus his attentions on. In his mind, the knight was fresh, exotic, and noble.
