Despite the calm demeanor and gentle smile that he greets everyone with, some people would find Hino a rather “stiff” guy to interact with, as if the guy ran on pure logic and any of his emotions are just an act. They aren’t too far off from the mark - Hino is an extremely studious person, often found with his nose in the books or reading up some sort of article; and whatever he did - he always had a reason behind it, along with a methodological procedure to carry it out, taking out any steps that he deems “impractical” or “unnecessary”.
Over the years, he’s learnt that logic applies to most (if not all) things, and as long as he analysed situation and its patterns accordingly, all he had to do was follow a set of steps to ensure that things would go the way that it is intended. This has given him a reputation for being organised and dependable - and good person to nominate if a “solid foundation” is required, such as event planning and execution. Anything that’s been entrusted to him brings a sense of calm and stability, because you know that he’s going to be completed to satisfaction.
“Teacher’s pet” is usually people’s first impression of Hino, but under this facade, he may not be the boy everyone assumes to be. As you get to know Hino for longer, you will find that he is someone who is relatively unaware of other people’s feelings, often offending people unintentionally with his blunt words. Callouts and grills out of nowhere are not uncommon once he’s warmed up to you. Due to his strong urge to produce results that could be recognised, Hino could appear to be a highly competitive and demanding person, often pushing both himself and his peers to take action. Some people may see him as a bossy person because of this, but he likes to think of it as just making sure that things are “efficiently completed”.

Hino has the ability to draw carbon atoms from nearby objects to create and manipulate several forms of carbon (mainly - coal, charcoal, glassy carbon + anything that's been burnt into ashes), including the density, texture and flammability. Other than throwing the formed carbon as a direct attack, or using slabs of it to block attacks, he also carries around a flint stone and wears a steel bracelet to ignite the created carbon (if required).
This quirk is mentally exhausting as it requires a large amount of concentration when forming anything that’s bigger than the palm of Hino’s hand. Over time, as the user’s mind is more and more tired out from concentrating, the carbon objects formed will crumble as its “bonds” have not been formed properly.
Hino can only draw carbon atoms from things that he knows the structures of (e.g. carbon atoms cannot be dragged from a human being due to complex structure, but can be drawn from CO2 in the atmosphere, hydrocarbons (mainly C-H chains) or from burnt items).
