Youngling

Nikolai tried to integrate into society and cities with a few older satyrs. The process was extremely troubling and stressful for him, as he felt like a black sheep. He was a bit scary, even in his youth, and still quite large for his age. He was gentle, but his appearance seemed to set others on edge. He found the world to be fairly cruel and wanted more than anything to retreat back into nature. He did learn about Frostall during this time however and loved every second of it!

Young Adult

Now that the satyr had been able to sustain himself he left the city and people as quickly as he could. He worked as a handyman on the outskirts of small communities and was quite capable and resourceful. Luckily for him he wasn't chased off further by anyone and they seemed keen to have him around. Perhaps it was because they themselves were on the edges of society, no one really judged one another. He enjoyed this time of his life immensely and even started up a romance with another satyr. They had talked about getting a cabin and being rangers, so that was what he planned to do with his love.

Adult | Current

Nikolai finally did move to his cabin with his partner. The two built it up all on their own and it wasn't long before they became the unofficial rangers of the forest they lived in. Everything kind of flipped on its head when he met Vasya and found himself in the guardian role for the first time in his life. Despite the shock and his usual grumbling, he quite likes having the younger satyr around.

Aspects

• Wood: Nikolai uses his wood aspect constantly. It's second nature for him and always seems to be influencing something in his forest. He's extremely adept with it!
• Nightmares: His other aspect on the other hand he very rarely touches. Nightmares is something he doesn't wish to inflict on others, but due to bottling it up so immensely it seems to backfire onto him and it spreads into his dreams often.
• Synchrony: DESCRIPTION

• Nikolai suffers from sleep issues and is often awake at odd hours and tending to any of his neverending task lists.
• Around Frostfall he leaves the woods to meet up with old family and friends. This tends to terrify people though if they've never met Nikolai. Seeing a large creature lumber from the woods around the holidays naturally sparked some rumors and folklore. They learn fast that he's mostly harmless though!
• However he's not entirely harmless and he DOES have a birch switch, so he'll use it if provoked. He's old fashioned and stern, it comes with the territory! Feeds back into the folklore too.
• Despite being older he's in very good shape and his age truly doesn't show aside from a few age lines on his face.
• Nikolai is wonderful with kids and is basically the cool grandpa everyone ever wanted. He doesn't say it outloud but he's very happy to have become Vasya's psudeo-dad.
