Tyrian Xiao-Chen

Since her birth at dusk one night, Tyrian has always felt a draw to the stars. Born and raised in the harbour village of Houtou, Tyrian has always been fascinated by the world around her. Spending much of her childhood with her nose in a book sparked a desire within her to see what Astoria had to offer beyond her little fishing village. Both she and her sister, Sienna, would dream of what wonders were out there in the world and pledged to one day go out and see for themselves. Once she finally turned 18, she and Sienna ventured out from their humble fishing village to travel the world.

However, their journey was not without plight. Sienna, lured by a demonic artifact, was taken to the Underworld. And some time later, Tyrian herself became bound to an entity she named Siphon - an amalgamation of vengeful, twisted souls made manifest, which hungered for more. Siphon had a vice grip on her soul for a long time, and was the cause of much distress and grief.

Though she had traveled alone for some time, a chance meeting at an inn in Khorasan brought her to the man who would become the love of her life - Kamus, the Envoy of the Hanged Man. The two clicked instantly, which was a rarity for Tyrian. She helped Kamus to face his fears and leave the city he called home, and gained a new traveling partner. She was no longer alone.

Eventually, with the help of a group of traveling nomads (including her grandparents) and the Envoy of Temperance, she was freed from Siphon's grasp. However, the normality of being a regular human didn't last long, as the Goddess representing the Star - Stella - soon made contact with her. Having watched her since birth, Stella observed the shining light of Hope that lived on despite all she had been through, and knew that she would be the one who would truly embody her ideals and use her power for good.

• Tyrian is fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and English - the former being her first language.
• At heart, Tyrian is an explorer. Her desire to see the world and everything it has to offer has never died.
• Other than reading, Tyrian has hobbies such as: playing the violin, keeping journals of her various findings and experiences, arranging flowers and more. She is a good singer as well, though she doesn't display this often.
• She adores fruit, particularly berries, and can often be found snacking on them. She has a fondness for coffee, as well.
• Depending on her sleep schedule, Tyrian can sometimes be found watching the sun rise or gazing upon the stars.
• Having lived alone in the wild in her travels, Tyrian has learned how to hunt and how to cook. Her food is, honestly, delicious.
• On top of her magical prowess, Tyrian can also wield a bow efficiently, thanks to her mother’s teachings.
• While her magic is incredibly powerful, Tyrian isn't very strong physically.
• Tyrian absolutely loves having her hair played with and touched, but only by people she considers to be close friends.
• Tyrian has a habit of tapping her chin when in thought, and fiddling with locks of her hair whenever she is anxious.
