Originally full of attitude and sassy remarks, his ascension to being the current Blue Sorceress turned him cold and nonchalant to the rest of the world. Often will he turn away those who come to his forest out of simple curiosity, and old friends who have managed to find him are only somewhat welcomed. His personalilty eventually becomes warmer, but only when the White Mistrel comes back to visit.

His power is limitless, with no known preparation times, cooldowns, or notable warnings. However, to obtain such awesome power needed complex requirements that others could never imagine...

The reason why he is so powerful is that he himself is currently in a contract. This contract was formed with the first generation White Minstrel. For each successor, in order to maintain the contract and power are some requirements:

1) The lifespan was shortened to 30 more years. The only way to continue the contract was for either the Sorceress to minimally use “her” abilities or to find a successor to take over the contract. i.e. if she was 20, she’d only live until she was 50. 2) She can not leave her area of governance as it would break the contract. Only under special circumstances would she be able to leave, such as finding a successor. 3) The White Minstrel requires the physical heart of the Sorceress due to his heart condition. The heart is magically taken at the beginning of the contract. 4) If the White Minstrel fails to appear within the next generation, the Sorceress’ spirit must dwell within the successor or otherwise be forced to wander the plains of the living forever.

The reward at the end of the contract was long forgotten by the successors that came after... But how to end the contract was maintained. “When the strength of wisdom blinded in shining light remembers Thy name, bring his steps towards the one Who, once broken, now remains whole.” In order words, the White Minstrel must remember who he is, come find the Sorceress, and return their heart.

History

Living alone in a forest that oozes with the unknown, Arlen oversees all activity within the surrounding areas, paying no attention to other details. Because of his restrictions in power, he is unable to attend the Governor meetings, just like his previous predecessors. He waits for the day that the White Mistrel arrives to complete their contract.

The Approach

Grown up in a well-known house, he was the second child out of five. And because of his lineage, he was required to go through one of the more prestigious academies, boasted to be one of the best in the world, to which he did not agree with. Delving into the militaristic side of the academy, he was a well-rounded student who knew exactly where he was going to go into. Because he was well-mannered and behaved, his chances of entering the Fortress Organization, an international organization that handles crimes and scientific studies, were high.

Half a year after his 18th birthday, he stumbled across the Blue Sorceress through an odd turn of events. Originally, he did not like her because of the rumours, but being forced into a situation where the two had to help each other, he realized that she was simply not like that. The Sorceress stated that the only reason why she was in that predicament was that she was attracted to the colour of his magic - in other words, she was looking for a successor to the Title.

The Discussion

“To be quite frank with you, I would have forced you into being my successor. After all, my magic is contract-based, and I can induce one with the snap of my fingers.” she sighed.

“Then why haven’t you? It’s been days and you’ve had many chances.” Arlen inquired, leaning in closer. The campfire was starting to wane, but his intention of listening to her side of the story stopped him from getting up.

“It’s contract-based,” she said with a snarky bite. “You’d have to accept everything that I intend to give you with understanding. My magic doesn’t work that way if it’s forced. I don’t need a heavy rebound that cripples me.”

It was true, with the way she stated it. He leaned back in thought, decisions being brought up left and right as it jumbled his brain. The sound of crackling wood and wildlife filled in the silence between the two.

“I’ll give you three months,” she said as she slowly stood up. “Come back to the Harolee Caves if you intend to take over my role.”

And with that, she vanished with a ring of blue flashes.

3 months after, Arlen disappeared without a word. 8 years later would his face ever resurface to others who knew him well.

The Origin to the Ridicule of the Blue Sorceress

The first generation Blue Sorceress was ridiculed by others for a couple of major reasons.

For one, her magic is based on the formation of contracts, which is taboo and carries heavy repercussions and payments. If the contract is incomplete by the time of the deadline or the requirements were done incorrectly will subject the contractee to forfeit everything.

Secondly, her choice to govern over the Forest of Words has warded others from coming close to her. The Forest of Words is mysterious, cloaked in a soft layer of fog and hushed whispers in the wind. It is said that this forest hides a nasty secret deep within its territory... and a fearsome power to those who can make it through to the centre. Few individuals enjoy its otherwise tranquility. Its ecology and environmental impact on the world is enormous due to its size.

Thirdly, her personality and way of doing things were… Odd. It sometimes appeared as if she would be more inhumane than anything else.

Trivia

The predecessor to Arlen was already dead for the past 20 years, but still managed to hold the other predecessors within her ghostly body in that time period...

It has been 51 generations (roughly 1500 yrs) since the last White Minstrel has been seen. Arlen carries the burden of 51 predecessors within the gaping hole where his heart should have been. And, a lack of heart creates the appearance of a lack of concern for others… Sometimes seen as inhumane.

World Standards

There are different ways to produce and control magic, and in turn, there are different types of magic users. This includes wizards/witches, sorcerers/sorceresses, warlocks, mages, enchanters, sages, etc. These are the different magic types. Not everyone can use magic to the same degree, but will usually make up for it in terms of physical prowess. Yes, an individual can both be strong in magic and physical offense. Humans are not the only intelligent race that exists. Birdfolk, beasts, merpeople, and others stand at varying levels of equality, depending on where in the world you are. Every individual has a different shade of colour.

Many people can have the same shade or tint, but only a few individuals can achieve a “pure” colour. The stronger and purer the hue, the more powerful the individual is in terms of magical prowess. Physical offense is purely coincidental. Just because an individual has one shade of colour does not mean they belong to an element that it is associated with. For example, someone possessing a red-orange hue does not have to be fire-based. This applies to all individuals.

The few individuals who have a “pure” colour or close to pure are known to be “Governors” towards a piece of land they reside in. They are given Titles, to more easily identify them. What they govern over depends on what requires their expertise. Sometimes it’s over a huge population, but sometimes it’s in the most deserted place. Titles are based on the first generation’s status (magic type) and colour. Successors to the Title will not change how they are called. For example, if the Violet Songstress produces a male successor, they are still called the Violet Songstress, and not Singer.

The Four Main Governors

The Red Wizard: Lady Savannah's duty is to control over the tectonic plates to prevent massive earthquakes. She covers over the most populous areas on the west side of the world, as well as most countries involved. She is quite popular and well-poised. Her expertise lies in the element of earth.

The Blue Sorceress: Unknown to the rest of the world, they protect the Forest of Words from outside forces. Covering over the largest temperate forest to the east, it is desolate and quiet. Because of this, the Blue Sorceress is also the most isolated out of all Governors and therefore has been accused of many odd things. His expertise lies in the element of “fire”, but many are unsure if that is correct.

The Green Enchantress: Grandmother Koko watches over and acts as a peacekeeper to the animal kingdoms. Covering the north, these oriental-like countries unite strongly with the nature that surrounds them, because it is the nature that protects them from the cold that comes in waves. Her expertise lies in the element of “air”, but it is better to say the “Language of the Breath” than anything else.

The Yellow Sage: Duke Sullivan oversees irrigation and sustainability in the south of the world, where it is harsh and dry. It appears that he runs around his section of the world most of the times, so many individuals have seen what he looks like, but never how he has worked. His expertise lies in the element of water, ironically.

The Governor Effects

Interestingly enough, just between these four, their Titles affect how much damage they can inflict with each other.

Red and Blue nullify each other, as does Green and Yellow. Green does the most damage to Blue, Blue does the most damage to Yellow, etc. If Blue decides to challenge Green, there would be some damage, but only minimal. There are pockets of control that these four do not govern, which includes all the other “pure” colours. The White Minstrel and the Black Warlock, however... Their whereabouts are unknown, though there have been some insights into locating where the Black Warlock is.
