The flame of intelligence shining between his horns is the magic light of the universal balance, the image of the soul elevated above matter, as the flame, whilst being tied to matter, shines above it. The blazing monochromatic sphere is the amalgamation of the white moon of Chesed and black moon of Geburah. The beast's head expresses the horror of the sinner, whose materially acting, solely responsible part has to bear the punishment exclusively; because the soul is insensitive according to its nature and can only suffer when it materialises.

It's physical form is only capable of guttural growls, but it is an intelligent creature that can speak through telepathic means. It's voices are both male and female, whispered and sultry, in an accent you can't quite place. It is both a sophophile and a hedonist, perpetually conflicted between the pursuits of knowledge and pleasure. It happens to derive the latter from killing humans, and believes that it also gains knowledge from consuming their brains (the serpent eats the heart); however, it will spare the victim if they can satiate it with an anecdote that can educate or amuse the beast.
