Lowest in the Pecking Order
Known to some as the "world's unluckiest chicken," their first misfortune came before they were even hatched, when their egg rolled out of their nest, down a hill, and drifted down the river to somewhere far away.
They can't remember if they ever had a name, besides the nickname they were given after a diviner told them that they were "born under a dark star."
Since then, their life has been a series of mishaps, culminating in the most grandiose, when they tripped through a pot of ink and across a contract that the wind blew down upon the ground in front of them, accidentally signing it and enlisting themself into a competition the nature of which they don't even fully understand, full of some very serious-seeming chickens...
Still, they take it all in stride. When life only gives you lemons, you just learn to enjoy the taste.

OBSERVATIONS.
NOTES
Despite everything that goes wrong for them, they often seem to try to keep up a chipper disposition. Whether this is to convince others or themself is unclear.
Though they cannot prevent their misfortunes, they have come to expect them, and have come up with various methods of coping.
They are not a fighter. This much would become abundantly clear to anyone.
Though past experience has made them afraid to trust, they are still easily swayed by small kindnesses.
Any ignorance on their part that seems feigned is, unfortunately, genuine.
