Dayfall is a kittypet that is a prominent member in Evan and Privet’s safety club. Her kittypet name is Daisy, though she uses the name “Day.” She is somewhat close to Evan and one of his better friends. When she meets Barkpaw, he tells her all about the clans and their naming system. Day is fascinated by it but knows she could never leave her current life behind. When Privet leaves, she fills in as the new club leader while Evan stays as second in command (he hates being in charge). The two grow a lot closer, though neither are ever romantically interested in the other. When Privet returns and convinces Evan to leave, Day tries to get Evan to stay. Evan feels obligated to help his brother, however, and abandons the club. Day angrily says something along the lines of, “Fine! But the club will be better than any clan ever could!” This sparks the idea to actually turn the club into something that mimics the clan. Day does her best to keep the club going and gets Jovi (Evan’s former love interest) to be the new second in command. She decides to take the warrior name of Dayfall and begins to reorganize the club to have clan rankings. Some cats want the traditional apprentice/warrior names, but others keep their original names. Although Barkpaw helped drive out the gang cats, there is still the threat that they will return or new rogues will take their place. Dayfall sets up border patrols and names them scout watches. Scout watches take groups of cats to mark the territory, report any changes in the twolegplace, and alert the club of any threats like loose/wild dogs, predators, rogues, etc. She also sets up hunting patrols, called food helpers, to catch fresh kill or bring kittypet food to homeless and stray cats in the club. Dayfall never takes on any kind of leader name as the club has no belief in Starclan and she never has the need for nine lives. The cats of twolegplace do believe in a place they call the Afterlife, but it only entails a description such as “a happy place cats go when they die” and there is nothing like prophecies or dream walking involved. Later on, Dayfall decides that “Safety club” is an outdated name and lets the group vote on a new one. They choose Dayclub/Dayclan to name it after Dayfall and to honor the fact that most of their activity occurs while the sun is still up.
