Originally coming to Mahou Wando seeking asylum from his world, Fontane escaped a corrupt power with the desire to control and influence the minds of the people- or destroy dreams entirely if it would be kept from them.

His predecessor and closest companion, the Dreamkeeper, safeguarded dreams to ensure freedom of the mind. In the time leading up to the horrible last-ditch sacrifice to flee, the attempts to destroy the Cauldron (a giant bubbling thing that holds all of this boiling, churning, constantly generating dream matter) was damaged and tainted. Slowly but surely, the dreams themselves turned sludge-like and blackened.

As was her inevitable duty, the Dreamkeeper gave herself to the cauldron to restore it. So Fontane, given her Eyes as a last gift, was now her replacement in the continual cycle.

With the foundation of his world shaking with less resources at his disposal than at their height, Fontane took to Mahou Wando with a key they'd kept safe and began to rebuild.
