Curran Toulouse Reinhardt Wydolar III

Aasimar Bloodhunter - Lvl 2

Male

6’1”

190 lbs, fairly muscular

Appearance -

Curran currently has short black hair flecked with grey, cut off using his sword. It is typically messy, but he cares little about appearance or keeping clean. He is tall and lean, almost malnourished due to an often lack of food. His skin is a light brown but fairly sickly, and has a purple tint to it. His fingers fade to a darker color and are bony and often bruised. They also tend to shake, more so when he writes or attempts more delicate tasks. His face is round and his features are soft, but this is overshadowed by the dark bags under his eyes and the sickly purple hue to his lips. He has slightly pointed ears similar to a half elf. He has about five scars on his right arm, appearing to have been reopened multiple times. Curran also has a large scar on his stomach. His eyes are a soft glowing silver. When he summons his wings, they are small and nearly skeletal with patches of feathers that appear slightly golden. The wings are flightless.
Curran eats whenever he can, which is not often, and will eat just about anything. He has fallen out of touch with the posh way of life in which he was raised, and with it lost most of his manners. He doesn't seem to realize that he eats so crudely. He is fairly stocky despite his sparse eating habits.
Before becoming Fallen, Curran had reddish brown hair that he kept well brushed and maintained. His eyes were a warm hazel, and his skin was a soft brown. He had light golden wings that he was able to fly with. Due to his mother being Eladrin, he has slightly pointed ears, as did the rest of his siblings. He despises his current appearance.

PLAYLIST (listen in order!)

Curran comes from a long line of Aasimars, mostly Protector and occasionally Scourge. Curran was born and raised in the outskirts of the town of Skanor, which lies along a high mountain pass in the Makkirdon Mountains. His family was blessed many generations before by the Deva, and most are celestial pact warlocks or divine soul sorcerers or clerics, etc. They gain their powers from the celestial gods associated with the Astral Deva. Those from his family are often esteemed in their fields.

Aasimar are quite rare in this world, and Curran has never met an Aasimar he wasn’t related to. Because of this, he and his relatives are exogamous, meaning they avoid having children with other Aasimar, and their celestial blood has grown weaker with each generation. Luckily Curran and his family are now able to pass as human, and only people who are very knowledgeable about the Higher Realms would suspect his origins. His entire family is descended from a single angel named Shukracharya who passed some time on the material plane for mysterious reasons several centuries ago.

His father was a Protector Aasimar, (Curran II) and his mother was a High Elf (Almyrah). All of his siblings were Aasimars. Curran is the oldest, and has a younger sister (Eden) and two youngest twin brothers (Odolin and Oskar). His family has long been dedicated to the service of the god Alorru, the Law Giver, and his father was an important cleric in this church before his death.
At the age of 20, Curran fell in love with a woman who went by Elka Lonan. She appeared to be a human cleric and they seemed madly in love. He was smitten by her and his family loved her, but after nearly two years together she revealed her true self, a fiend with a particular hatred for the Deva and Aasimar. Curran had been unknowingly drugged the night before and awoke to a blade in his stomach, Elka standing over him in her true form. She and her cohorts had already killed most of his family by then, both of his parents and two of his siblings, as well as most of the maids.

Curran’s younger brother Oskar, a cleric in training, managed to survive by hiding in a closet, kept safe by the chaos around him. He witnessed his twin brother’s murder, both aged 13 at the time. After a few hours he emerged, now unable to save his twin. He wandered the house in search of survivors, distraught and terrified. Curran called out when he heard his brother crying and Oskar found him, pulling the sword from his stomach, doing his best to somewhat heal him with his recently attuned clerical powers. After this massive loss, he took Oskar to their relatives and left him, his goal to hunt down the fiends that murdered his family and avenge their loss.

He met and fell in love with Elka Lonan, a cleric of the hunting god Waudyn. It was like a fairy tale, and he recalls seeing her in his dreams even before he met her. Curran had a few premonitions that there was something strange about her, and when she took him hunting in the forest it seemed as though she relished harming the animals she killed and encouraged Curran to do the same, but he ignored it as probably his own imagination. However, she turned out to be a vicious demon who killed most of Curran's family. He does not know what this demon’s true name is, but he remembers seeing its true form when he awoke: it’s face was the Elka’s but with horns and glowing red eyes, and a pair of red bat-wings sprouting from her back.

He dedicated his life to finding this demon and exacting revenge. At first he sought to find out more about the Lower Realms by asking others in the Church of Alorru, but none would help him. Curran wandered seeking answers for many years, until he heard about the demonic possession cults among the wild men of the Coterie Islands to the north. Sailing there, he was disappointed to find that these barbarians were not in communication with infernal realms, but they did worship Waudyn, and practice a form of blood magic which he decided to learn to help him in his quest for revenge. As soon as he drank the foul mixture that tainted his blood, Curran felt his connection to his angelic heritage fade away, and recognized his mistake. Since then he has prayed for guidance from Alorru with no response. Despondent, he found his way back to Skanor, but in his degraded state did not want to see his family. Curran took the pass south over the mountains and has since then found work protecting merchant caravans and odd jobs as a mercenary. But his search for the demon continues, as does his hope that he will someday redeem himself in the eyes of Alorru.

--

The moment he took the Hunter’s Bane, Curran changed, losing his angelic appearance for a sickly, darkened one. Curran had made the choice to give up his powers as a protector Aasimar as well as the favor of his celestial in order to hunt down the demons who killed his family. He believed that the Deva had abandoned him, and he had accepted that after quite some time in anguish.
He now uses the blade that she left in him (a longsword) for his blood magic, believing that it has a connection to her that will help him track her down and kill her. He has only a few scars that he keeps confined to just his right arm, choosing to rarely use his blood maledicts/rites. He still coughs up blood occasionally due to the wound inflicted on his stomach, typically when he over-exerts himself. He is currently 36, having spent nearly six years tracking the demons.

CURRENT TIME -

Curran is self-conscious of his appearances and afraid of what people think of fallen aasimars. He was raised to be weary of them, and becoming one has been a challenge for him. He dislikes when attention is drawn to his appearance and he tries to hide it whenever possible. One of his fears is that his brother and their family will be unable to accept him of he ever returns. The scar on his stomach, though healed, causes him terrible pain occasionally. Typically when it rains, Curran will grow sick with pain, often coughing up blood.

Curran hates any sort of fiend and has a hard time trusting them, including tieflings. He can be pretty vocal about this if it comes up, and will often refuse to talk to any form of fiend, regardless of their intention. To tieflings he is cold and does not enjoy talking with them, believing that anything that close to a demon could be evil.

Curran has a hard time falling asleep, and this is not typically solved when he is around others due to his mistrust. He likes to sleep with his possessions, of which there are few, close to him, typically either on top of them or with them in his arms. His prized possession is a golden comb that his mother gave to him as a young boy. He never uses it.
