Quilton/Kale Ranvyr/Brushway

Backstory under spoiler!

He was born in the underdark to parents who were servants to a priestess to Lolth (Spider goddess), named Myrymma Ichoara. His mother, Sasya Ranvyr, was an assistant and his father, Naszar Ranvyr, a slave to the priestess/Sasya, and takes Sasya’s last name. Kale was conceived and born as a sort of accident, but the priestess had her keep him and raise him to be a slave. His mother had hoped for a girl, and his father was relatively uninvolved with Kale’s upbringing unless ordered by Myrymma or Sasya. The priestess planned to keep him as one of her own slaves once he was deemed old enough.

Since she was a servant to a priestess his mother raised him pretty religiously and prepared him fairly early on for his future role. She didn't have much affection or love for Kale as she had wanted a girl and was very busy, but nonetheless took care of him, although not very well. As a baby, he was taken care of quite well, not all the time by his mother but by other assistants as well as her. As he grew older, he was left a bit more to fend for himself and often went without food for some time, and his only interactions with his mother now were when she was forced to find him when he wouldn't appear for his training.

His mother had access to the archives in case she needed to retrieve anything for the priestess, and as Kale gets older, he becomes much more curious and often steals his mother's key or whatever she uses to get in so he can read. He spends a lot of time reading and this is where he learned of Olidammara and starts experimenting with really simple spells and stuff. He's probably about 15 at this point. Eventually he's discovered to have been sneaking into the archives and his mother and the priestess are pissed as shit, but since his mother had no idea what he was doing, the priestess is merciful to them. The priestess says that she will show mercy if his mother hands over Kale to her as her slave. They also hope he'll quit the whole rebellious thing if they send him off. His mother seems to care more about their own well being than his and he realizes this and they send him off, leaving him to serve Myrymma as her personal slave, and so his mom hands him over like "whatever he's a burden on me anyways" and he becomes one of Myrymma's, so he often sees his mother but she barely acknowledges him. Myrymma is abusive towards him, and is annoyed that he doesn't seem to appreciate her mercy towards him and the position she's placed him in. For the first three months she often hits or starves him or leaves him chained up in an attempt to squash any shred of rebelliousness he had left in him. He slowly gains her trust over the next three months enough for her to have him run errands, and he uses that opportunity one night to escape the underdark and is kind of forced into a town known as Redwater-- known for its famous red wine-- in a temperate, forested area with long winters and moderate summers. Also the sunlight hurts him in the beginning because he lived like underground for 15 years so he kind of starts out poorly. He doesn't really know what he's doing and wears a makeshift cloak all the time and has nowhere to stay. He spends his time sneaking about and playing his stolen violin for money to buy what he needs, but often resorts to stealing. He frequents the town library to read up on religion and Olidammara in specific; the librarian-- Librarian Brushway-- is a halfling he grows quite fond of after his many visits there. By the time he’s sixteen, a troupe of performers known as the Tremendous Tricksters find him playing in the streets and see that he’s talented and recruit him as one of their own. The troupe consists of other oddballs so he fits in, and they offer to help him because they can tell he's young and scared. So at the start he's not very outward and open, but over the next couple years he comes out of his shell with the help of the troupe because they really wanted to include him in practice and stuff and just make him feel welcomed.  He makes a name for himself but is often still shunned outside of the group because he's a drow. He tries not to let it get to him and usually can ignore any rude comments-- though one time in a bar with his troupe, he had gotten slightly drunk, and some other dudes at the bar were taunting him and berating him because of his race, and he kinda snapped and started a fight. He was not incredibly proficient with any weapons but he has a knife/dagger or something and they go outside to duel, and ultimately loses when the other man draws blood (from his arm?) but he pins Kale down and cuts his eye. Kale doesn't lose his eyesight entirely because his eye is kinda shut tight and the blade doesn't do much to his actual eye. It does damage it though and he can't see as well from his other eye. This all happens when he's about 19. His troupe kinda breaks up the fight before anything else can happen and the other guy lets it happen because he won and he doesn't particularly care much anymore. It’s kind of a blow on his self esteem but he bounces back twice as strong and teaches himself how to fight and his faith in Olidammara strengthens. He spends his time reading and practicing magic and acting and music with his troupe and he generally likes life until he makes the mistake of parodying a pair of royals to a point where it's highly insulting (even more so because he's drow). The royals are Duke and Duchess Jirar and Jade Stormwren, a pair of human nobles living near Redwater who hear of the troupe’s incredible performances and invite the Tremendous Tricksters to perform at their homestead. Once there, Kale sees that the nobles use half-orcs as slaves. Infuriated, Kale decides to lash out at the royals by insulting them all throughout the performance for their use of slavery; the rest of the troupe was unaware of Kale’s intentions and were not on board with insulting their hosts that night, even if they disagreed. Wildly insulted, the duke and duchess take it upon themselves to hunt down Kale and have his head as punishment; however, they capture the wrong elf, taking Lium instead. It is upon Lium’s disappearance that Kale regretfully leaves the troupe, takes a new name-- Brushway-- and runs away from Redwater to Neverwinter, where he first hears of Gundren.

Troupe info

So the two human girls are twin sisters, both 34, named Maura and Mary Rihra. They're identical twins and both have pretty bubbly personalities. They sort of founded the troupe when they were younger and pretty much wandered around doing silly performances. Maura has a more serious nature than Mary but they both get along very well with the rest of the troupe. The next member they picked up was the half elf guy, his name is Victor Olaren, 29, and he's a pretty serious guy who's kinda buff but had an incredible love for acting and comedy. He usually plays kind of the doofy strong guy in their plays and is a pretty big softie that just seems intimidating. He really loves the troupe because they're like his family pretty much. The third that joined is the dragonborn guy, whose name is Paskan Drilux (just goes by Pas or something shorter) and he's the son of two copper dragonborn, which makes him a bit more human-like than Rhogar is. He's comedic and loves to use simple spells to aid in their performances and create fun effects. He acts all tough guy but he's really not all that tough. The fourth is the dwarf lady, she's 41 and her name is Julienne Brownmail and she's a really great musician, she often experiments and makes weird instruments for her to use in their plays. She likes to build simple sets too. She's super sweet and talented and she's also a great cook omg. The fifth is the snooty wood elf boy, he's 21 and his name is Lium Genlynn and he's kinda wary of foreigners, especially Kale, but he's usually pretty kind anyways. He joined the troupe to escape his tribe and live his own life and finds a real passion in acting. He also helps Julienne cook. The last one is a halfling lady named Salie Frojen who is 37 and everyone's mom pretty much. She's a cleric and her roots are in healing. She loves to act and sing and she also uses magic in their shows. Her, Kale, and Paskan are the only magic users pretty much. That's their overview

Maura and Mary both have fairly dark skin and incredibly floofy curly hair, Maura is one inch taller than Mary who's 5'5", and Mary is a bit pudgier than Maura. Their skin is pretty freckly too.

Victor is 6'3" and white, and has short blonde hair. He's pretty muscly and strong and soft spoken but onstage he's the opposite.

Paskan is 6'2" and is a copper dragonborn. That’s really all you need

Julienne is exactly four feet tall and has curly strawberry blonde hair which she braids up all fancy like usually. She's got a round face and a button nose and is pretty buff honestly.

Lium is weird and lanky like Kale, six feet tall and has lightish brown skin and straight brown hair that he keeps cut sort of short. He's not very muscular but he's sort of toned.

Salie is 3'4" and has straight brown hair. She's a little chubby and also has freckles like Cora. Just not as much and they're also much lighter. She has slightly pointed ears and a sort of boxy face
