Family relationships: Orchard - Although Orchard's creation initially caused a lot of stress and tears, he loves his child to bits. He does his best not to spoil his baby, but often finds it difficult since he spoils everyone he's attached to. He tries to let Orchard do his own thing, but won't even pretend to say no if he comes back for help.
Other relationships: Hickery- The little Sun Step is basically his adopted child. Fred, the actual creator, attempted to disown his child multiple times, effectively screwing up the baby's brain a bit. Out of fear that Fred would hurt or even send Hickery to an adoption center, Pears said he would care for them. He did a better job of raising the little guy, so much so that Hickery pretty much thinks of him as more of a parent then Fred. Although they caused him much grief, Piers does love Hickery just as much as his own child.
