Viarnne was an affluent Tyrannian Acara in his 20s and the reluctant heir to PD Secure Storage, but then he died in a freak accident and a series of odd events lead to him being resurrected as an off-brand robot Kiko and shipped into outer space, unbeknownst to his father Patton, mother Gladys, and younger brother, Ben. Oops.
He ended up on a small colonized asteroid that the Virtupets space station uses as a garbage dump, deactivated, until Sam stumbled across him in the garbage and took him in. Now they live together on Sam's broken spaceship while Viarnne tries to figure out a way back home.
Viarnne struggles with to stay focused on one thing for very long- he's good at dreaming big, but overestimates his capabilities and gets frustrated when he doesn't excel at something right away, and will flit to the next thing that catches his attention. While he dislikes performing badly at the things he tries, his ego and curiosity drive him to continue trying out new hobbies and experiences- as long as there's no risk to his life or physical safety.
While he participates in a number of social activities, he has difficulty forming connections with others- he comes off as offputtingly loud and an awkward conversationalist to the other people in his social circles. Dying and awakening in an unfamiliar body and an unfamiliar place is a massive change that forces him to reassess who he is and who he wants to be.

In life, Viarnne was a little shorter than the average Tyrannian Acara- he also kept his fur ruff and claws trimmed short.
In death, Viarnne is quite a bit different looking from the usual models of Robot Kiko- he has a much simpler outer appearance and no headlights, on account of being an unofficial prototype.
Neopia Central has become a large modern city, akin to Chicago. Neopets have smart phones and personal computers, and Fyora and the faeries govern the whole planet.
As the eldest son of Patton Delaney, the wealthy CEO of PD Secure Storage, Viarnne grew up knowing that he would be taking over the company from his father one day.
However, he'd never really shown much aptitude for business- he struggled to pay attention in class and drifted through school with mediocre grades. While money and his father's influence granted him a place in Neopia Central's top business school, he ended up dropping out to spend his early 20s dabbling in hobbies, going to parties, sampling gourmet food, and dodging his father and brother's attempts to get him involved at PDSS. After causing a public image catastrophe at a high profile New Years Eve party that involved two fist fights with a high profile guest, a screaming match with his brother, and storming out in a huff, Viarnne was abruptly crushed to death by a stray chunk of Faerieland while walking back to his penthouse apartment.
Coincidentally, around this same time, an experimental robotics research team funded by a mysterious benefactor were trying to design a ghost powered robot.
So when some guy gets crushed under a castle turret near their offices, they waste no time ghostbuster vacuuming up the free soul lingering there and using it as the energy source for their prototype. Unfortunately for them, Queen Fyora had established strict laws about how magic is allowed to be used by the Neopian public, and soul and life magic is heavily restricted. The feds caught wind of their operation, and the team had to scramble to cover their tracks and get rid of the evidence. The prototype containing Viarnne’s soul ended up tossed in a shipment of junk headed for a small asteroid used as a garbage dump named KZ80, orbiting high above Neopia.
Sam, a resident of KZ80 who regularly scavenged valuables from the dump to repurpose or resell, came across Viarnne’s deactivated body in the garbage and brought it back to his home, where he managed to power him on.
Awakening for the first time after his death, Viarnne was terrified and distressed to have to adjust to an alien environment and body, and contend with his last living memories of massively fucking up and then being crushed to death. With no other options, Viarnne takes Sam up on his offer to let him live with him while he figures out why he's a robot and how to return home.

As kids, Viarnne and Ben were close, and Viarnne would often attempt to cheer his younger brother up when he was scared or distressed. However, after years of Ben's accomplishments and interest in the family business going unrecognized by their father, he has grown extremely frustrated with his brother's lack of effort and views him as unprepared and undeserving of becoming the CEO of PD Secure Storage. Viarnne, likewise, feels insecure about having done poorly in school compared to Ben, and refuses to admit to Ben or himself that he's not interested in the business or CEO position.

In a strange place where he doesn't know anyone or have any idea what to do next, Viarnne doesn't see any other option besides living with Sam until he figures out how to get home. He thinks that Sam is kind of weird and has the feeling he doesn't like him much, but he's also curious and extroverted by nature and is wary to venture outside of Sam's ship for fear of potentially dying a second time, so they begin to form a bond over sharing similar taste in television.

Gladys was largely absent from Viarnne's life- most of their time spent together was when she'd bring him along to events when he was a child. He feels some amount of resentment towards her for prefering to take Ben with her instead as they got older.

Patton was marginally more present than Gladys in his children's lives, but his appearances were to evaluate whether his sons were living up to his expectations. Viarnne is still too afraid of him to disagree with him or talk back to his face.
