"I wouldn't do that if I were you."

Quick witted and with a sense of dark humour, Carmen has an intense sense of justice, so much as to do the "bad to make the good" happen by his own means rather than try to convince the larger mass. His faith lost in society but strong in individuals, he hopes that one day humans will realize the efforts that he went through will produce some fruits or recognition.

Despite wanting to be acknowledged for his efforts for so long, he has incredible patience until pushed to the last straw. Muttering to himself constantly or talking to a "non-existent being", people used to think he was insane or crazy-minded when in actuality he was brainstorming to himself or throwing arguments that he could be faced with against his papers.

Being too close to him makes him anxious. He's unused to close proximities, especially when starting to understand what it means to be "close" to someone.

History

"Coerced by the sweet whispers of a benevolent angel, he released a global endemic, plaguing all those with diseases of the dead and ghostly repossession. To this day, his taboo deed plagues the world, killing millions over the centuries.

His reason for unleashing such a terror may be warranted. Perhaps... it stopped a more dramatic and deadly fate for those who ignored his pleas of urgency.

However... To be too righteous is just as deadly as being relentlessly sinful."

...

Living his new life as a demon, his wings make him stand out. Because of that, he tends to slink around in the background, continuously conducting his own tests and running reports to the head director herself. Being dead was one thing, being brought back to life as a demon to run tests for a demanding head director was something else.

A Growing Epidemic

Studying as a scientist to learn more about diseases that affected the human race, Carmen came across a startling discovery. There were a multitude of diseases that could create an outbreak, and that the lack of medication in the world would help to promote it. These diseases could create widespread devastation, and it did not help that there were not as many sanitation checks either in current day countries than certain organizations were hoping for.

These diseases would allow for black blisterings, interrnal bleeding, and other horrific effects if something didn't happen to stop it.

Carmen wanted to stop it.

It was only a matter of time before the outbreak could potentially happen. Based on his estimates, it would roughly take about two to three years or so. It was a largely wild guess and would cause an uproar in the scientific and medical field, but Carmen was sure of this timing.

He started experimenting with these diseases, trying to find ways to minimize damage if at all possible or to eliminate entirely. However, the more he looked into it, the more he couldn't find a solution that could eradicate. There really was only one option, but no one who was a living being was going to like it.

But the dead would.

Why Won't you Listen?!

Armed with his thesis and other papers, he published his work. Expecting and receiving the backlash and outroar, Carmen did his best to argue. Disappointingly, no one bothered to understand his claims.

If they were truly scientists, why did they not question? Why did they not assume and build their own conclusions and tests? Why did they not try to at least reason with him?

Why?

Regular life returned too soon. Carmen was expecting a bigger outburst, with people coming to either argue his claims or to back it up.

Nothing happened.

Were they so ignorant in their own little scientific worlds that they couldn't spare any other thought to something massively important? Were they always like this? Was science always conducted like this?

I'll End it Myself

An angel visited Carmen one day. He wasn't really sure what to think of him really, as he had no wings and no halo or the usual antics that an "angel" would have, but he had agreed with his studies and pointed out the possible points in Carmen's timeline where the outbreak could happen. His words matched his. It was uplifting, after meeting no response for the past two years.

But Carmen was cautious. This man who was agreeing with his claims seemed to be a bit too... supernatural. He was incredibly charismatic, which made Carmen feel like something was off. He had already explained that his solution to solving this epidemic was not a good one. It would involve a growing turmoil over the next potentially thousands of years and people succumbing in other ways.

The "angel" digressed. He agreed with the concerning factors of what Carmen could do, but urged him to complete his task.

Carmen's solution was simple. Activate a set of genes and release another type of disease. It would greatly lessen the effects of this epidemic of which he was starting to see signs of, including in himself, but it would involve the dead to be reanimated in ways that incurred horror in others.

It was either to save majority of humanity or let them perish and dwindle significantly.

It seems like the "angel's" charisma won him over.

He was going to do it. There was no time left.

Why

Not too shortly after Carmen released his disease, he fell deathly ill.

The next thing he knew, he was staring up at a woman. Blinking a few times, the woman smiled.

"You've done a horrible deed, Dr. Novastrofg. You've killed thousands now and more to come." she giggled.

"I'm fully aware of my actions." Carmen responded as he slowly sat up. His body appeared to be... fine?

"But you've proved your worth despite your justice." the woman continued as she pulled his hand up to make him stand, "And I'm here to collect your body and soul to... do something for me."

"Why?" was all Carmen could ask. It was all he could think.

She smiled.

Trivia

Carmen used to be human, before succumbing to an unfortunate death. While by no means was it undeserved, there was some pity with those that did believe in his efforts.

Carmen has six white bat wings, something that was seen as rare and very intriguing. The amount of wings signify the amount of power a demon has, but for them to be white... is a mystery to others.

There's a pesky angel following him around, wanting to get to know him better. Carmen knows that the angel is aware of his human past, so he doesn't understand why he keeps coming back. This angel also is particularly touchy, and Carmen doesn't like it.

Style: Carmen is not a physical fighter, and would rather flee from the scene than get hurt. If he's trapped in a situation however, he will utilize his abnormal strength to make his way through, using his fists and legs as he usually never carries anything on him. When he is carrying vials of questionable liquids, he will smash them against the ground to create poisonous plumes, and manipulate it with his magics for other dramatic effects. Licking his blood or biting his body will also incur the attacker paralysis and numbing, giving Carmen time to escape or end the battle.
