Physical Description

Maine Coon blood surely runs through her, as Monarchstar towers above the rest of her Clanmates, a trait that her many children have picked up on. Broad shoulders and powerful legs mean devistating attacks for any unfortunate enough to end up on the business end of her claws. The fur of her body is thicker around her chest and neck, and the tufts on her cheeks trail downwards - a trait she shares with her brothers.

A reddish-ginger tabby pattern peeks through in different points along her black fur: across her face, along her back, and the bottom portion of her kinked tail. The blue of her eyes flit between the bright expanse of the sky above, and the roiling depths of the sea below, depending on the mood she is in.

• A deep, ugly scar that cuts through the fur along her throat from her brother's attempted fratricide.

Backstory

Early Life

Monarchkit was one of three kids born to first-time parents Spindlesong and Warblerwhistle, and for the first few moons, everything was as it should be. Monarchkit, Timberkit, and Ospreykit were the light of their parent's lives, the once quiet nursery filled with the sounds of their parents' songs and stories. But, nothing lasts forever, and one tragic day, Spindlesong was struck by a car - killing the queen. It was only once Monarchkit had been allowed to see the body of her mother, smelling strongly of rosemary and watermint, and the horrible, grief-stricken expressions on her brothers' and father's faces, that she was determined to protect them from the cruelty that she had witnessed first-paw.

Monarch is widely regarded as one of the best leaders that Shadowclan has had in many moons. While she feels the weight of her predecessor's legacies hanging over her, she is the most well-adjusted for the role, considering the previous leaders were violent, mentally fragile, and at the tail-end of their lives respectively.

She has weathered the impossible task of delivering them to a new home, even after just barely having taken up the mantle as leader. She thinks with her heart when it comes to her family, but she has proven deceptively pragmatic, and never allows her Clan to be caught on the backfoot.

After the death of her former mate, Monarch never thought that she would love again. But, despite the odds, Litember broke through the tough exterior of the molly, and Monarchstar could not begin to think of a life without her mate in it. The pair have been through so much together, weal and woe both, and yet never once has their relationship faltered.

The two fantasize about growing old together, to passing the torch onto the many children that they have had the pleasure of raising. To Monarch, there is no greater balm to the worries and woes of the Clan on her shoulders than falling asleep with Litember at her side. Together, the impossible doesn't seem so daunting a task, with her at her side.

Firstbloom

Monarchstar had never intended on becoming a mother really. She would plainly tell any cat that she sort-of just, fell into the role. When the cult known as The Found Family came onto Shadowclan territory seeking one of their Clanmates, Monarch had no idea how drastically one of their members would change the course of her life.

After Firstbloom, then known as Brisk, was blinded as a punishment by one of the leaders, and was brought back to Clan territory, Monarchblaze and Litember kept her company, and helped her to navigate the new world that she found herself in. Firstbloom remains Monarchstar's most cherished daughter, and even after her passing, Monarchstar still endeavors to life up to her example and tries to be a cat her daughter would be proud of.

Trivia

• Monarchstar's first life came from her former leader's mother, a molly named Smallflower. Her life was one of Kindness. ”I give you a life of kindness. Even your anger may seem overwhelming or righteous, remember that a gentle touch can turn the tides quicker than any claw strike.”
• Monarchstar's second life was given to her by Smallflower's kit, Silverkit. Her life was for Remembrance. "Always look beneath the surface, and remember that not everything- or every cat- is as they seem.”
• Monarchstar's third life came from her mate's brother, who passed away young from illness. His life was for Optimism. "You and your clan can't lose hope even in the hardest times... For there will always be better days for you to live through..."
• Monarchstar's fourth life came from a warrior she never saw eye to eye with in life, a molly named Fadingecho. Her life was one of Persistence. "Remain obstinate in your choices and stay true to your heart, even if it seems everything is against you. There will be cats who disagree, obstacles that arise, and trials that may seem never ending. Even then, stand your ground and stay firm with what you believe.”
• Monarchstar's fifth life came from a long-lived elder named Cinderleaf. This life was for Loving and Protecting your Clan like Family. "Stand with Shadowclan with all the warmth and spirit you would for your own family."
• Monarchstar's sixth life came from her former mate, Jasperstorm, who had died defending Shadowclan from Dark Forest trainees. He gave her a life of Knowing when to Fight, and when to Choose Peace. It all was draining away from her, feeling the way her breath slipped away, and she was privy to Jasper's last thoughts: Of her.
• Monarchstar's seventh and eigth lives came from her parents, Spindlesong and Warblerwhistle, who had been tragically seperated after the former was hit by a car. Their lives were of Certainty, the Strength to Make Tough Decisions, and the Love of a Parent. The pair were bound together by the red string of fate, and they shared everything together, in life and in the stars. She shared their every waking moments, their heartbreak and their joy. Until the fated day on the Thunderpath, and it felt like part of her heart had been cleft in twain.
• Monarchstar's ninth and final life came from the leader before her leader's, Gingerstar, a molly she knew in life. She gave her a life of Offering Second Chances. "A life you do as it stands without fail. Guide those who have had their innocence and judgement stripped away from this, offer protection and advice to build up everything they once had.. make them see the light in the darkest of times.”
• Monarchstar won't sleep in the leader's den super often, preferring to be nearer to her clanmates (read, her mate, Litember.) She also finds something about sleeping apart from the rest of Shadowclan unnerving, seeing herself as just another cat, she shouldn't have preferential treatment just because she's leader.
