Vahlokdozii

Vahlokdozii is the founder of the Clan and creator of the Golden Fiddle Tavern. The story he tells is that after a long life of heartache and strife, he stumbled into the limbo between the material and ethereal worlds and finally found a long-sought feeling of peace. Eager to share his discovery with other wayward souls, Vahlokdozii created the Tavern by shaping the liminal space to his will with the power of his own soul. The power of creation takes quite a toll on a once-mortal being, and as a result Vahlokdozii's body was left weak and scarred and his soul absorbed into the Tavern. Since the Tavern was created in such a way, he is tied to it eternally and can never leave lest it fall to ruin. He does not seem to mind, though - caretaking the Tavern and its weary residents is his greatest pleasure. Vahlokdozii's warm attitude and terrible dad humor are always appreciated by his guests.

It’s a bit up in the air as to what exactly Vahlokdozii is - a spirit? A demi-god? He’s not very open about how he discovered the ability to use his soul to bend the limbo between worlds, so the Tavern is full of speculation. Some think he exchanged abilities with a demi-god, or did a favor for an ethereal being, or simply died and his spirit happened to fall into limbo and start bending it to his will. A handful of dragons even go so far as to suggest he's quite a bit older than one would think, given the eerie similarities between the Tavern and the Moonportal/Sunportal, but dragons didn't even exist back then so how could that be possible? Despite a few wild theories, most simply suspect Vahlokdozii had help from an ethereal or divine being to learn how he could use his soul for protection and creation, but when you ask him about such things he simply smiles and walks away.

Krahdinok was the first dragon to find Vahlokdozii's Tavern. Grieving the loss of her sister in a bloody battle, Krahdinok had wandered for miles before finding herself in the limbo between worlds and at Vahlokdozii’s doorstep. His calm demeanor helped to soothe her turbulent emotions and turn them to more productive areas - helping the Clan. The pair lived comfortably for what seemed like many years (time was so hard to tell in limbo) before they were joined by Kulaas. She became Vahlokdozii’s mate, and a partner to Krahdinok.

Nowadays, Lok can be found on the main floor of the Tavern, where he can greet new guests and soothe their fears upon waking up in a strange place. No matter whether it is a guest's first or hundredth time to the Tavern, he always greets them by name. This is often unnerving for newcomers - "how did he know my name?" - but Lok's soft, tired expression makes it impossible to be wary of him. He is often the first friendly face a guest sees on their arrival, and he works hard to ensure that their stay - however long or short it may be - is full of healing and fulfillment.
