Ferngayle was a simple forest gnome (a subrace well-known for their reclusivity) until one day she stumbled upon a beautiful tiara nature was trying to reclaim. The moment she placed it upon her head, her mind filled with knowledge she couldn't have dreamt of possessing prior. But with this knowledge came a terrible curse.

Fern used her newfound abilities to learn the arcane arts, unaware of the ramifications the Circlet of Intellect helds. The item warped her perception of reality, slowly convincing her that Life was a disease on the planet that gave way to parasites bent on destroying it. She took it upon herself to eradicate these pests, liberating them through death.

Fern's use of necromantic magic is not to be mistaken as returning life to the once passed-on. She sees her reanimated corpses as automatons--dolls for her to use as she pleases before disposing of them again.

She sees relationships with other adventurers as a means to an end. It is much easier to be sanctified in your mass murder when you do it in the name of protecting people through hired work.
