Death in his most deceiving guise, walked not among graveyards alone, but swanned squarely in the realm of commerce. Wearing the attire of industry and strapped with key fundementals only aspiring young men would. He once, was a man. Beloved as a friend, cherished as a father, devoted as a husband. But, cruel fate tore his world asunder in a single malignant breath of change. All of what he loved, gone.
"What have you done to me?"
What remained of him was grief, flesh gave way to steel and sorrow fuelled thundering wrath. Thus he was remade, a construct of cold precision. He thought to himself, that could not merely end pain but excise it. He carved suffering into the world with relentless fury. In his crusade, mercy became obselete. He became a bringer of chaos, one that only Death could name.
He believed, no, he knew that all he held dear had been purged from him. Though fate, the sly weaver, had left some threads unsevered. A remnant of his kin survived the fatal incident, they learned of his spiral into madness and forged ahead to reveal the truth, that they still lived. When his eyes so dulled by madness looked into the faces of his children, where they were impossibly real, regret surged into him like a storming flood.
An irrevocably human vow was sworn, one so pure that it stirred the interest of distant but intense powers. A sovreign presence witnessed his change and in such, a role was bestowed onto him. For the laws of reality were unravelling and it required a steward.
Thus, death was made into a man and from then, he has remained both amen and guardian.
