Rabbitfur is one of Thunderclan's warriors on the Polish warrior cats RPG forum Starlight. As a kit, she was called Goldcrestkit, but the bird's name in my native language (mysikrólik) literally translates to mouserabbit, hence the nickname. This is also why she later became Rabbitpaw, and finally Rabbitfur.
About
Appearance
Surprisingly, considering that neither of her parents is particularly small in size, Rabbitfur is very short—actually one of the smallest cats in the clan. In build, she wouldn't differ much from an average cat if not for her notably muscular legs. Her fur is long and usually messy, which makes her appear a little bit bigger. The upper half of her body is mostly covered in black, while the lower half is white. The white markings include her legs, belly, chest, ruff, and part of her face, where the white covers her muzzle and a stripe between her eyes that reaches all the way to her forehead. Speaking of her eyes, they are green, the color of grass, and her nose is a soft powder pink. Distinctive features include her tall, rounded ears, with white fur sticking out of them, as well as her long whiskers, which often twist off in all directions. A tiny part of her right ear was bitten off by a stout.
Personality
As a kit, she used to be loud, optimistic and energetic, to the point that you could see her running around and checking every corner of the camp all day. Well, that is, until she became sick and couldn't move from her tiny nest in the medicine cat's den anymore, which had a huge impact on the way she now perceives the world, as well as herself. After 10 moons of not being a part of society, she became more anxious. Initially, it was very hard for her to feel like a part of the clan again. It certainly did not help that she didn't, and still doesn't, fully believe in her own capabilities. She suffers from a raging impostor syndrome and doubts herself every step of the way, no matter what she's doing. She also tends to blame herself for things that aren't actually her fault. Despite this, the progress she has made since she healed is very apparent. Over time, she became proficient at faking confidence, which lead her to adapt the mindset of "fake it till you make it". It might not be the healthiest coping mechanism, but, hey, it seems to have actually worked! She turned more open to other cats and became more social, doesn't stumble over her words anymore (unless she's anxious), and is now a huge yapper. Connecting with others turned out to be very easy for her, because of her kind, happy nature and highly developed empathy. She has suffered through a lot of hardships, so she understands others' suffering, too. She might not fully realize this, but she has earned the trust of a lot of cats and became a little bit of a local therapist. The leader of the clan even specifically assigns her anxious apprentices, so she can help them through their own issues before they become warriors. She is also very loyal to Thunderclan and tries her best to fulfill all of her responsibilities, and she is actually a really good tracker and fighter, no matter how much she herself downplays it. She may appear a little silly or even dumb, because she definitely lacks eloquence and tends to act on impulse, but in reality, she is pretty intelligent and highly attuned to all kinds of issues. Her biggest flaw is most likely poor self-control. She always has strong, emotional responses to anything she even remotely cares about, so at times, she may appear childish or short-tempered. She is also kind of a hypocrite–no matter what advice she gives other cats, she never applies it to herself.
History
She was born in Thunderclan and is the daughter of a pair of warriors, Honeynose and Dandelionpetal. Her parents gave her the name Goldcrestkit, probably because of how small she was. She had a pair of littermates, Dustkit and Boarkit, but Dustkit disappeared shortly after they reached 2 moons. She, on the other hand, got sick around that time and was forced to stay in the medicine cat's den for a period of 10 moons. (TBA)
Trivia
- She is bisexual and used to have tiny crushes on a lot of different cats every so often. That is, well, until she fell in love with her best friend, Rainbowmeadow.
- Her favorite types of prey include squirrels, rabbits and magpies, although she's not a picky eater and will eat just about anything.
- Soon after she became a warrior, she had a fight with a stout, which is why a part of her right ear is missing. For a long time, she could not accept that she was beaten by such a weak opponent and didn't like the scar, but many moons have passed since, and now she appreciates its aesthetic value.
- She unconsciously stims a lot, mostly by tapping her fingers on the ground and moving her ears or tail.
- Her sense of smell is amazing, but her hearing sucks, which is pretty ironic, considering her name. Thanks to many moons of self-regulation around her noise sensitive apprentices, she learned to speak at a normal volume, but whenever she gets really happy or excited, she tends to forget herself and gets a little too loud. Sometimes, she also has trouble processing words and has to ask other cats to repeat what they said or takes a while to respond.
- Despite everything, it's still her, etc. etc.
Relationships
Rainbowmeadow [ mate ]
Rabbitfur and Rainbowmeadow first met when they were still Rabbitpaw and Rainbowkit, and became close friends almost instantly. Ever since that first meeting, they'd often hang out together, but the first big milestone in their relationship came soon after Rainbowmeadow became a warrior and lost her brother, Sunpaw, to a rat colony. Rabbitfur found her crying in the medicine cat's den and consoled her, promising her not to die until they're both old and cranky elders. They turned into each other's rocks throughout all kinds of hard times. For the longest time, Rabbitfur was convinced they'd be best friends forever and nothing could ever change their friendship. She never expected that the change would come from deep within her own heart. After she failed to save a fellow warrior, Wolffang, from a spotted eagle, Rainbowmeadow found her, helped her return to the camp, and was very protective of her during the funeral. It was the first time she'd ever seen her friend angry, and it was on her behalf. This impressed and moved Rabbitfur so much that she started seeing Rainbowmeadow in a different light. Slowly but surely, her newfound deep appreciation developed into romantic feelings, which she realized on the night that Rainbowmeadow took her out of the camp to watch shooting stars, if only to cheer her up. However, despite being very aware of her crush, she was too afraid to act on it, concerned it might destroy their friendship, and convinced herself it'd pass quickly. Well, needless to say, that never happened. Instead, she kept getting butterflies in her stomach every time she'd talk to Rainbowmeadow, becoming more and more skittish around her and in awe of her, and eventually fell hopelessly in love. There was just never a right time to confess with so much going on in their lives. She kept brushing her feelings off, as "a little bit of discomfort never killed anybody", and after many moons, she convinced herself that there was no point in acting on them, because there was no way Rainbowmeadow hadn't noticed, right? If she felt the same way, she would have surely had talked to her by that point, no? Thus, Rabbitfur was fully set on just suffering in silence for the sake of their friendship until the end of her days... until a fateful afternoon during a particularly rocky time of her life. Hearing Rainbowmeadow say that she wouldn't want to live without her was just too painful. In the spur of the moment, she blurted out that she wouldn't either, but that for her, it went way deeper than friendship, and she wished they could be more than that. She was certain she'd get rejected, and the only thing she was praying to StarClan for was that she wouldn't lose her for good. Unexpectedly, Rainbowmeadow admitted she felt the same, though it was a fresh and big realization for her, and she was scared of hurting Rabbitfur. They agreed to become mates and take their relationship slowly. Since then, Rabbitfur has been over the moon and very in love with her partner, ready to take on all the challenges in life by her side, and determined to make her happy.
Starryflame [ "cousin" - mentor - friend ]
Starryflame is one of Rabbitfur's older brother's kits, technically making Rabbitfur her aunt, but since Starryflame is older, they consider each other cousins. Starryflame was also her mentor when she was still an apprentice, and they got really close through training together. To Rabbitfur, she was always a little bit more than family—she was her first real friend. However, she never felt comfortable talking to her about her true feelings and fears, because the one time she did, it turned out her issues hit way too close to home for Starryflame, causing them both to spiral and blame themselves for making the other feel worse. They never let their relationship suffer because of it, though. They just... collectively decided to ignore it and never talk about it again? Some issues really DO run in the family! Anyways, as long as they avoided talking about their problems, Starryflame's happy-go-lucky, energetic personality matched the one of Rabbitfur well. Their relationship was almost perfect until the day Starryflame got demoted back to Starrypaw for assisting their now-exiled medicine cat in letting a Riverclan warrior trespass on Thunderclan's territories. Rabbitfur did not agree with her actions, and decided not to stand up for her in front of the clan. Although Starrypaw didn't seem to mind, Rabbitfur still felt like she had betrayed her and couldn't handle the blame. Eventually, when Starrypaw told her she intended to leave the clan, she decided to respect her wishes and didn't try to stop her. After everything that happened, she didn't feel like she deserved to be considered her real friend anyway. Since the day that Starryflame left, Rabbitfur has not seen her again, but misses her dearly and hopes one day they will meet again. Somewhere deep down, although she is disappointed that Starryflame left, she empathizes with her choices and sometimes wonders if her own decision to stay in the clan was the correct one.
Bramblenose [ friend ]
Bramblenose is Rabbitfur's friend, although their friendship is rather peculiar. Due to Rabbitfur's sickness, she actually ended up becoming an apprentice on the same ceremony as Bramblenose, and they also finished their training around the same time. Despite being older, Rabbitfur had always felt that Bramblenose was way more mature than her and admired her. The two of them were once sent on a patrol alongside Silverdroplet to kill a colony of rats residing on Thunderclan's territory. The fight ended up taking a dangerous turn when Bramblenose fainted because of blood loss. Rabbitfur saved her life by taking on all of the remaining rats, thus allowing Silverdroplet to carry Bramblenose back to the camp. For many moons after that incident, Rabbitfur wanted to get closer to Bramblenose. They had survived a near death experience together, after all... But Bramblenose had never been the easiest cat to make friends with. Rabbitfur wasn't sure what the other warrior thought about her, and despite some attempts to make her warm up to her, it didn't seem to have much of an effect. Their relationship changed slightly after Bramblenose became the deputy. She came to Rabbitfur looking for advice on how to make cats feel heard, and since Rabbitfur had voiced her respect for Bramblenose before, she also asked about what their relationship was, exactly. At that point in time, Rabbitfur had already learned to understand Bramblenose better. She came to the conclusion that as far as friendship goes, her relationship with the deputy would never be the same as with her other friends, but that it was okay, because it didn't neccessarily have to be. Having accepted all of Bramblenose's quirks and, to be frank, emotional stuntendness, she finally offered to be her friend. They are not exactly peas in a pod, nor do they spend a lot of time together, as Bramblenose prefers to be alone, but they have mutual respect and (some) understanding of each other, and Rabbitfur trusts that in the future, the deputy will become a better leader than Lilystar.
