And while he often prefers to put forth minimal effort, and won't shy away from lounging around whenever possible. He enjoys helping others when the opportunity arises, and though he may not go out of his way for heroics, he'll always lend a hand if itβs important to those around him. At least, he has the spirit β that's what he's often told.

Diego was born into a low middle-class family, the only child to his parents. He spent a majority of his time with his mother, as his father was often out of the picture. The man was always traveling, spending weeks to months away from the family. Diego barely remembers his face on most days. He's Mexican-Dominican ! His first language being Spanish, but he's decently fluent in English.
Growing up he always had a deep seeded interest in the ocean / sea life, one that his mother often encouraged. She would constantly take him out to the beach and into the deep water, to give him chance to see some of the life beneath the surface. To which, he is forever grateful. Diego is a huge momma's boy. She's his solace, a comfort that no one has been able to replace. His mother had been accepting of his identity from day one, despite her occasional slip ups, he could never harbor any intense hate towards her.
He attended a decent school alongside a close family friend. Though it was never his top priority- he often skipped or cheated his way through classes with her help. However, being her friend had its perks, thanks to her he had a reputation of his own to uphold. His more based on his looks and charming personality [ as he would put it. ]
Despite his lack of upkeep in regards to his class, Diego poured majority of his attention into his interests. Putting forth a better efforts towards the swim club and the beach. If he wasn't in class he was either at the pool or beach, never an in-between. It was like the water called to it.
In spite of his mother's better wishes, he is a drop out, leaving high school mid way into his senior year. He wants to return, he really does, but the guilt and shame of having dropped out in the first place keeps him from doing so. Now he spends majority of his days lending her a hand in his family's bodega that's shoved off in a little corner of Washington Heights. He works primarly graveyard shifts as his mother gets older and is unable to keep up with the word load.
