Invention is actually one of the old gods technically
Created by Creativity basicly, handcrafted basicly hence the complicated machines and workings
He was ment to be a companion god sorta a someone to help bring ideas to life between them
Time passed no one is fully sure where creativity is, some suspect they put their God hood into Invention. But no one is fully sure since they still sense the god
But the old gods started tricking Invention to create things with bad intentions
This happened for years. Invention non the wise, just happy to create and invent. Never leaving his workshop to see his items in play and when he asked to see they'd always find a reason to get him to stay in his workshop
At one point he does finally go
Only to see things of his creation harming instead of their actual purpose.
He silently leaves and the other don't find out until something they ask for doesn't act as intended. Only proven further when they find him trying to take back the things he made to alter them
The old gods go to his workshop and basicly break him beyond self repair after he refuses to make more weapons.
His right arm is gone, only from his shoulder to mid bicep remain. His left hand only hadls three fully functional fingers (the rest are either broken or gone)
And his "skin" (carefully carved porcelain and wood) is just gone except of what you see on his face and legs.
He can't repair himself because of how complicated he was made (think a mix of a balljoint dolls, animtronic, and stuff. LOTS of wires, joints, moving parts, etc. So he's constantly leaking gods blood, yes I'm calling it that)
But he's the only person who can repair himself since he can't heal
So he's basiclf become a "forgotten god" since he refuses to still make weapons even if he lived with just a string of his life basicly
All he does is make music boxes and like those complicated things like the Silver Swan in the Bowes Muesum
Nothing useful to others
But Slater when he's forces to be on god duty he will go there to piss him off dispite Invention just being obviously a depressed grumpy old man
But Invention doesn't agree with Slater or the old gods so
