Personality
Emotional
Vim is a very emotive person. She feels strongly, and isn't afraid of showing her feelings about things. Although she tries to keep a neutral face and keep her emotions secret when needed, she has a bad poker face. She cries pretty easily, but perks up just as easily.
Chaotic Neutral
On an alignment chart, she's at Chaotic Neutral. She values herself and her own ideals, rather than abiding to anyone elses. This doesn't make her an asshole tough, and she is generally nice with others. Especially if it's useful to her.
Impulsive
Vim tends to think with their heart firsthand. Which, along with undiagnosed fantasy ADHD, leads to impaired impulse control. If it sounds fun or exciting, Vim's doing it no matter the consequences. This does lead them into trouble a lot of the time, much to the dismay of her party.
Secretive
She is secretive of her identity and past. She will share basic information gladly, such as her name, her hometown and her job, but prying anything else out of her will prove to be a challenge. She says she values personal information, and doesn't want her identity stolen or used wrong.
Morally Gray
Vim doesn't strafe from doing things that are wrong if it's what needs to be done. They generally don't judge people who turn to evil deeds. She feels she has no justice to judge others, as she has done bad things in her past as well.
Dumbass
Vim isn't the most intelligent creature, and makes some dumb decisions time to time. They also tend to not listen to advice, or go straight against it.
Summary
Physical appearance
In her disguised form, Vim appears to be a basic member of Unitabaxi, a rare subspecies of Tabaxi. She looks like a short grey cycloptic feline. Her eye is large and colorful, making it very striking. Her fur is rather fluffy, especially during winter season. Her skin is a light blue tone, and her pelt is broken up by a couple scars here and there. Notably over her eye, and across her left palm.
She is usually clad in a dress, vest and a shawl. Her left hand is adorned by a couple of golden bracelets. Her shoes are open-toed, leaving room to flex out her retractable claws. Vim carries around a golden staff, with a blue orb surrounded by golden wings on top. The orb's color shimmers and swirls around like a galaxy. This is her Arcane Focus she channels her magic through. The orb was a gift from her father figure, and she's kept it for most of her life.
In her true form, Vim appears to be a one-eyed creature made of purplish-blue magic. Her usual form is four-legged, with a wispy tail, though she can change shape at will. Altough she is genderless in this form, over the years she refers to herself with she on the occasion. She only shows her true self to people she trusts a lot, as it reveals her worth if killed.
Background
Village Life
The first touch with reality for this magical being was via the magic of Aralus Forestmaker, the leader of the Unitabaxi village. The spell he was using wasn't familiar to him, so once he came to after passing out while using the spell he was surprised to find a cloud of magic dust staring at him. He captured the creature in a jar of glass while he researched what he had conjured, and why it was sentient. During this time, Vim was carefully studying his mannerisms, so she could copy him later. Eventually Ara found what he was looking for in an ancient dusty book.

"Sentient Magic. Only very powerful mages can conjure such creatures with a spell. Because the magic is sentient, it can grow it's power independently. They are very sought after, because one's power can be harnessed into a powerful amulet. This amulet brings great magical capabilities, essentially making the wielder's magic double in effect. This harnessing destroys the magic's sentience, killing the personality the magic has developed. They have adapted the capability of disguising themselves as other races due to being hunted for these amulets."

The book also explained the exact method of harnessing a magic's power. Ara tought it felt gruesome and horrid. Even if the wealth it could offer was a temptation, as money tends to be for Unitabaxis. But Ara was more interested in learning about the creature itself, and let it out of the jar to study it closer. After a few days of following Ara around, it disguised itself as an Unitabaxi kitten. Ara was very touched by the image of a small child, and ended up adopting it as his own child, giving her the name Vimiyan.
She lived in her village of Unitabaxis peacefully. She had a partner and some hopes of having children, but found she couldn't carry children of her own since she was only mimicing the biology of Unitabaxi. They separated on good terms, and eventually she moved on to date Elynaja Nightseye. Eventually, time's hands made it's way for Ara. He passed away peacefully of old age, and though it hurt Vim could lean on her girlfriend for support. But Ara's notes about Vim's species were passed down onto Urilouve Tornear, who had been envious and bitter about Ara's favor towards his daughter. Uri was chosen as next leader of the Unitabaxi, and he used the trust the village put in him to convince the village to harness Vim's lifeforce into the amulet. Vim managed to escape the village with her life. But she turned bitter towards her former family, and was distraught that even Ely seemed to be under Uri's spell.
Taking a Turn
After wandering for a long while, Vim made her way into a town far enough from her previous home. She had no money to speak of, the only belongings she had were the clothes on her body and the orb Ara had passed down to her. She took to sleeping in the streets, and stealing from food vendors to survive. This had her eventually falling into contact with Cornieur, a tabaxi who was a member of an underground criminal's guild. He had watched her for a long time, and seen her steal using magic. He approached her, and made a deal. If she helped him and his guild out, she would get a place to stay. She, not seeing nor really caring for any other option, accepted.
Initially, she was only a mere thief. But as she grew bolder and got to know others in her guild, she was given more demanding and dangerous jobs. Her skill in disguising herself lended her with a very versatile penmanship, and she found her skills in forgery during this time. Eventually, she had climbed the rankings all the way up to be classified amongst the top. The training regimen the guild worked with had left her with quite a few nicks and cuts, during which she'd found herself close to revealing the unusual color of her blood. Thankfully her multilayered outfit kept it from being obvious, especially in the low light. During a blackmailing gone wrong, she took her first life. She was surprised by the victim, who sprung at her stabbing her in the stomach. In the panic of the moment, she in turn took his life.
By the end of her time in the guild, she fumbled with a knife and cut right across her palm. Cornieur happened to be with her, and unsurprisingly was surprised by the color of her blood. She pleaded him not to tell anyone. He did promise her, most likely because he had found himself crushing on the smaller feline, but she couldn't bring herself to fully trust him. She decided then and there, that she had to keep moving and leave the guild. She had kept most of her earned gold saved in case she'd need it one day, and she thanked her past self for that now. She took one final mission with Cornieur, during which she orchestrated him to get hit by their opponent. He took a fatal blow, and begged for Vim to help him. Vim, in her mind substituting Cornieur with Uri, told him this is the only way to make sure he keeps quiet. She took their opponent down, as Cornieur struggled. Once it was over, she stood by him, watching the life fade from his eyes.
Vim went back to base, and told the boss Cornieur had been killed during the mission. There was nothing she could have done to stop it. She used the feigned shock to say she didn't want her life to be lost to crime, so she offered to pay herself out. The amount was nothing to sneeze about, ten thousand gold. Her offer was accepted, and she was free to go.
