Past

Artemis lived with his mother when he was very young. He loved her and was extremely happy... they would bake, spend lots of time together, watch Telenovelas, and just enjoy life.

Unfortunately, when he was around 12, she passed away. He was then sent to live with his father... a ruthless businessman who had had an 'affair' with Artemis' mother and was paying her off to keep her quiet. Artemis was immediately alienated by his new family (father, step mother, and older sister) and fell into unhappiness. In an attempt to make his father proud, he pushed himself to learn Japanese and to get perfect grades... but it was never good enough.

When attending his new school (after previously being home schooled), he was relentlessly bullied for various reasons. (Including, but not limited to: Freckles, glasses, being chubby, being Asian, being dark-skinned, being Hispanic, being ethnic in general, being a 'nerd', ect.). However, around the age of 14, he met Darius Baker, a star athlete who became very fond of him. They ended up dating and eventually began to fall in love.

A year later, Darius admitted that he didn't want to be an athlete and instead wanted to go aboard and join the peace-core. Artemis helped talk him into doing it, telling him that he should follow his dreams. Darius made plans to leave and be gone for a year and just before he left, they decided to sleep together for the first time.

Unfortunately, the plane that Darius was on went down and there were no survivors. 2 weeks after being told about his love's death, Artemis found out he was pregnant.

Personality:

After being kicked out by his 'family' for becoming pregnant at 15, Artemis closed himself of and became a bit cold. He got a job and began to increase his studies, hoping to graduate in his junior year. When he is not at school he is often at work and although he is only supposed to work about 20 hours a week, he often takes the shifts of his co-workers to gain extra money (as children are very expensive and he is a single parent).

He has a hard time finding the humor in anything. Especially because, as a pregnant teenager, everyone thinks that they have a right to tell him about the mistakes he's made. After hearing constant insults and opinions because of his life, he has become closed off to other people and often times has trouble trusting anyone he doesn't know. Although he would technically be considered depressed, he tends to think of it as being empty and alone.

Artemis is extremely health conscious. Because of his age and a chronic illness he has, he has an extremely high-risk pregnancy, and so he has researched what to eat and what care to take. As much as he tries, however, a major part of the problem is stress - which he is almost constantly under. It leaves him feeling extremely exhausted and with a constant headache almost all of the time.

Style:

Dark skin with naturally white hair. 'Punky' style, with a particular like of aqua and teal. Usually wears his hair loose, or up in a ponytail/bun at work. When he is not at work he is almost always wearing a cat-ear headband that has a lot of sentimental value to him.

Notes:

-Has Lupus.
-Is very superstitious (Carries around an acorn, wears an amber necklace, collects bells, only leaves the house the way he enters it, keeps a horse shoe above his door, ect).
-Is about 8 months pregnant.
-Drivers an old, beat-up car that breaks constantly.
-Loves to knit (knits baby clothes).
-Pacifist.
-Soft-hearted. (Despite being treated poorly, he tries to see the good in people.)
-Works in a retail store (think: WalMart) part-time.
-Infamous around his school.
