Profile

Ikarus started out his life serving the god of the sun, as one of the mythical stallions who pulled his chariot across the sky each day, bringing the sun across the sky. However, he was restless in his position and part of him yearned for the night and the stars. It didn't take long for misfortune to befall the young stallion, and he would rather not talk about that situation. However, despite being raised to be a servant of the sun, he was cast down and in turn was raised back up to be a servant of the night.

He served as a shield and sword of his goddess of night for many years, but left when he (quite ironically) fell in love with a maiden of the sun. However like most things in his life, it was fated not to last, and she was killed for treason against the Sun Court and that left him with their young daughter.

Now Ikarus knows nothing of how to raise a child, being quite young himself at the time, so he beseeched his long time friend in the Moon Court to raise the young filly, feeling it was better to leave her with someone who had a stable life rather than traveling with an outcast like himself.

He decided to take it a step further when he found a mysterious portal, and left the world entirely. Little did he know if he would have just stayed, life would have been fine and dandy since the dark goddess herself had granted him pardon. But before they could find him and bring him back, Ikarus was gone.

Ikarus found himself on a strange new world full of strange two legged things who used weapons made of long pointy metal sticks (Medieval Earth style world) and for a brief time was hailed as a God. However, in the style of his life so far, a neighboring city decided he was a personification of the devil, and tried to kill him. So rather than put his people in danger, he simply disappeared one night.

He wandered this world for a while more, eventually finding a Unicorn mare with whom he fell in love. All was fine and dandy for a while, until she told him she was expecting, he freaked out a bit, took a nice long flight to think about things, and accidentally slipped through a portal in the sky on the way back.

The next new world he ended up in was a dark world, filled with violence and war. He used his fighting skills from his earlier years to quickly gain rank and earned his first set of armor, an impressive black set. Really, he was just working his way up through the ranks to gain access to the royalty so he could request a boon- any information on traveling between worlds. Having been unable to find the portal he had slipped through, he was determined to find another way to get back to that strange world and that Unicorn mare.

When he met the Queen she had one boon for him. She was impressed with his battle skills and his strong form, and wanted him to help her produce an heir. At first he was highly offended and refused, but when it became clear that was his only way of getting the information he seeked, he reluctantly agreed. She did eventually produce an heir, a strong born princess, and thus her end of the bargain had to be fulfilled. However she had fallen in love with him, and while she upheld her side she tried to convince him to stay. He didn't.

So he went back to that strange world, found the Unicorn mare, and found that their child was not only grown but gone, and the mare was very pissed with him for leaving. She didn't really care what had happened, only wanted him gone. So he left, again. This time he managed to find that portal, but as time goes differently in the worlds, he found himself nearly four years later in the night world. The Queen had been overthrown, and their daughter was missing.

So Ikarus returned to the battlefields, eventually finding their daughter many years later as a battle hardened renegade trying to win back her kingdom. Instead of introducing himself and telling her who he was, Ikarus simply acted as her general and essentially won back her throne, ensuring she was set to rule for a long time coming.

After many moons by her side as guardian and protector, Ikarus left again, this time landing in the middle of a mythical land. He fell in line with similarly winged creatures as he; however, these were formidable beasts with dragons wings and fangs, as well as a penchant for setting things on fire. He fought with them and trained, learning new fighting techniques and styles, and teaching them the ways of the 'soft wing' as they called him, the styles and tricks he had learned serving the sun god then later again in the Dark Queens Court.

He, as most things happen, fell in love with a shield-maiden of the Dragonkin, and together they had twin daughters. He stayed with that shield-maiden until she passed on to the next world. While their lives were longer than the mortal beasts, they were not immortal as he was.

Searching a new purpose, Ikarus then found himself in a world of mortal equines, and guided and protected them as a sword for hire in a manner of speaking. However, mortal lives are short and often snuffed out too quick, so when Ikarus failed to protect one of his young charges he fell into a deep depression.

The following years were spent wandering alone, not talking or interacting with anyone around him.

What finally brought him out of his funk was a young filly with a chip the size of a mountain on her shoulder. She tried to rob him, and something in him snapped. He spoke for the first time in years, and they eventually came to a deal. He would teach her to properly defend herself and act like a true lady of the world he had found himself in, and in return she would keep him company. He was a bit reluctant to this at first, but eventually grew used to, and eventually even began to enjoy her presence. He practically raised her, and assisted in her heist upon the castle. Once they got out he taught her the secrets of moving between worlds, and they parted ways. She had a better chance moving alone without a great winged warrior by her side.

He later found out she made it out, but never found the true happiness she was seeking. Instead of finding a mate she guided other young fillies like he had guided her, and ensured they would be able to defend themselves if need be.

Many more years passed as Ikarus traveled in search of purpose. He eventually found himself a kingdom with valiant and pure nobles, and an even better king. He pledged himself into service, once again falling into the easy role of general, and later, adviser and hand of the king. However no things are ever an easy ending for Ikarus, and as such, he missed the one glaring fact in front of him. The King's heart was festering with blackness and jealousy, for Ikarus was much beloved of the people, and some whispered that they would like if Ikarus took the throne after the King had passed, rather than the King's spoiled son and heir. 'A rule of eternal happiness and glory' the people called it, and as such, jealous of Ikarus and his burning light of immortality, the King sought a way to strip Ikarus of that which made him whole.

Consulting dark mages, once all but gone in his predecessors reign, he lured Ikarus into a trap. The mages stole a piece of Ikarus's very being, stripping him of his immoral grace, leaving him an immortal soul in a mortal body.

Needless to say, Ikarus left. He wandered for a way to fix himself, and upon hearing rumors of a new land and the possibility to become immortal, Ikarus flew and found a ship, heading off on perhaps the greatest adventure of his once immortal life.
