About

Shardkit is currently Gritclan's youngest member, but she beliefs that she's definetly ready to become an apprentice already. She often explores the camp, and has come familiar with her surroundings, and she cannot wait for the chance to see the outside world.

Deafness

Ever since Shardkit opened her eyes, she realized that something was missing. She could see that others were wagging their mouths, which told others what to do, even if they didn't see the mouth movement. Other's could some how sense her approaching, even if she was behind them. She saw the worried expressions on her parents' faces when some grey old tom came to... test her... That's what she could guess what was happening. But she never learned if she did well or not in the challenge.

Afterwards, the cats around her started moving more, twitching their tails or ears and moving their front paws in specific ways. The kind old white molly had thaught them that. Her parents were pretty unsure when they did that at first, but with repetition they grew surer. And with repetition she realized that each movements had their own meanings, and she repeated them back to them. The delight on their faces told her that she had done great! They continued doing more signs, and she learned that she could finally express herself to them, though there are so many more sign things she needs to learn before she can tell them as much as she wishes.

But not all cats did those signs. Just her family, the old cat, and the cats that smelled like herbs... Why don't the other do that? At least her brother does his best to tell her things that the others want to say to her, and the other way around. With time, she also started to recognize some of those mouth movements, she's pretty sure what her name is supposed to look like. The mouth signing is way harder to understand, so she sticks to the signs.
