Profile

Alan Turing is the titular protagonist of Turing's Antalyakart, the father of computer science and artificial intelligence, and our boy himself.

Backstory

Turing's life between 1912 and 1954 is the same as in our timeline, with Andrew Hodges' biography (Alan Turing: The Enigma) being used as reference, minus his death, which I left ambiguous (due to his reason of death not being clear). On the night of June 7, 2021, exactly 67 years after his death (June 7, 1954), he was found alive again. After that, he continued living in his home in Wilmslow, (Cheshire,) England, and working in the University of Manchester until September 2022. Obviously, during that time period, he frequently visited other countries, such as France, Norway, Greece, and (for the first time) Turkey.

September 2022 was when Turing decided to visit Antalya, Turkey. It was during his vacation that he decided to temporarily live in the city, and as of January 2024, he still lives in Antalya, in an apartment in Yenidoğan Neighborhood, Kepez, and works at Akdeniz University as a professor of mathematics.

He's isn't very different from how he was in real life, Andrew Hodges' biography (Alan Turing: The Enigma) being the reference point, except with some changes that come with being resurrected into the 21st century and having to adapt to it, such as being more politically involved. He's childish, very curious, kind and affable, whimsical, witty, honest, clumsy, and too naive (except that changes through the series).

Personality and Character

Turing is childish, very curious, kind and affable, whimsical, witty, honest, clumsy, and often too naive. Like his friend, Nehir Cebesoy, he speaks his mind, but he's less aware of context, tone, and the fact that there's another person on the other side. He often takes things literally and at face value, and he's kind of bad at separating fiction from reality (maybe that's something linked to his autism). He loves building things from scratch and figuring things out on his own. He's also rather contradictory (is that the right word?), like, his traits aren't consistent. He can be very happy one day and very upset the next. Alex Hanna once said that he "contains multitudes", and I think that's a great way to explain it.

Interests: Computer science, math, morphogenesis
Hobbies: Working and posting on TuroNet (a social media platform him and Cebesoy developed), reading, writing, long-distance running, cycling, playing chess, gardening, messing with computers and electronics (both software and hardware), knitting
Likes: Strawberries and cream, yapping about his work, nature, industrial zones, warm food
Dislikes: Elon Musk, newspapers (but that changes through the series)
Fears: Humiliation, his work and dreams leading to a dead end

Abilities and Weaknesses

Intelligence - You probably know. Turing is considered as the father of computer science and considered as a genius in mathematics by many, rightfully so.
Multilingualism - Turing's native language is English. He can also speak French, German, Greek, and Turkish, he also knows a bit of Latin from school and has learned a little Norwegian some time ago.
Athleticism - Turing is a good long-distance runner, and loves riding his bike too.
Good aim - Turing is great with rifles.
Avoidance to criticism - Turing will not take criticism towards his work too well. He'll try to dismiss it (or not interact with it at all) any way he can. The end of this can often be disastrous.
Clumsiness - Self-explanatory. Turing is very clumsy, especially with machinery.
Naiveté - Turing is very gullible. Add that with his tendency of taking things literally and his difficulty with separating fiction from reality and... Yeah.

Relationships

Friends: Nehir Cebesoy (also his upstairs neighbor)

Trivia

  • Turing is autistic.
  • Turing can't remember how he died. This is so that his death is "left ambiguous", I talked about it in the beginning of this page.
  • Turing used to defend the field of artificial intelligence however he could. Now he regrets it all in some days.
