Profile

Name: Atticus Asher
Age: 64 years old, resembles someone closer to 40-45
Gender: Male
Height: 6'5
Weight: 170 lbs
Orientation: Grey-Aromantic, Bisexual
Occupation:  Former/Returned leader of the Messiah (gang)

PERSONALITY:

Any semblance of good will that once existed in the being once representing happiness has been long-since snuffed out. Atticus has been convinced, engrained, with the concept that there is no good in the world--there are no good people. It is beyond the point of cynicism, far into the classification of mental illness. The amount of hatred and anger this man holds has eroded away at him and left the husk of a dead, emotionless monster. He is cruel, apathetic, and above all else, self-reliant. Every action he takes is for the sake of self preservation and power--as power is the key to freedom. At  his core, he is a deeply damaged man in dire need of help and healing, but the barbs and barriers he has raised have made it virtually impossible to ever get close enough to make a difference.

The man is capable of feeling in rare circumstances. He genuinely loved his late wife, and his three sons, but his mental illness directed all of his rage on the woman, and he's since convinced himself that his sons--whom he'd done everything for--had betrayed him like everyone else. Now, there is no family, there is no bloodline, there is only one more disappointment for him to forget by eliminating any remnant of it. It is far easier to view the world this way, than to accept any blame for all the darkness he's caused in the world.

HISTORY:

Atticus was born a twin, alongside a brother (Lugia), to a seemingly 'normal' couple. His earliest years were all happy memories, with loving parents and a brother he was incredibly close to. But one afternoon, while playing with his brother at the age of ten, the pair were confronted by an unknown group of masked men, intent on taking them. While his brother was safely hidden away as part of their game--and staying where he was out of fear--Atticus was right out in the open, and far too young to defend himself. In an instant, he was gone, with no trace of who'd taken him. For months, even years, his family searched for him, and held out hope that he was still alive. Eventually, though, even the most hopeful of hearts had to concede to the likely reality that he was dead.

Unfortunately for the young Ho-Oh, he was not. Instead, he'd been taken by soldiers of a twisted black market--specializing in the trade of legendary (and especially shiny) powered, particularly to humans. While he was too young to be of use in the beginning, he was transported from place to place, caged and showcased like some exotic animal. His primary 'caregiver' was a strict, cruel older woman who treated the kidnapped child like a burden. She spoke of him as her property, bullied and taunted him just to test his abilities, and once he was old enough, pawned him off on eager buyers who sought to make use of him in countless ways.

It was Ten years of limbo. Ten years of hammering down an innocent light into something crippled and dark. But a coincidental raid on the black market trade resulted in Atticus' recovery alongside many other Powered like him. He spent months in custody until his identity was confirmed and his family notified. His family was overwhelmed ot have their boy back, but he was no longer the bright, playful child they'd known. He was destroyed, utterly, and had no interest in rekindling the crippled bond with his parents or his brother. He took no time to cope, or to heal. He very quickly fell into the hands of the violent streets, taking out his anger on thugs and authorities alike, until he'd incidentally garnered a reputation. Eventually, by happenstance and a drive for control, Atticus founded the Messiah--a gang of Powered intent on taking command of Rosso City. No one was going to put a hand on him again.

He was well into his twenties when he met a beautiful young powered woman named Linette, the daughter of one of his paid off police officers. The woman was pure in his eyes, perhaps the only innocent soul he'd ever met. She was smitten by him and, while initially he did his best to avoid her, he found himself drawn in. They were married within a year, had their first son, Early, and quickly built a family together. Lily, as he called her, had a congenital heart defect that prevented her from working, not that Atticus would have allowed her or any of his sons to leave his sight anyway. They were kept safely guarded, virtually invisible to the world, but this twisted, obsessive sort of love he felt for them worsened into violence and contempt. His love for Lily did not stop him from harming her, or his children, a fact he hated about himself but could not control.

After years like this, his oldest son, Early, had had enough. To protect his mother and brothers, Early gathered incriminating evidence against Atticus' gang activity and took it to his estranged uncle, Atticus' twin brother, who was now working for the government. Atticus was arrested, sent away to life in prison and finally offering his family respite. He spent more than two decades in prison, before his connections aided in his early release. Now he was returning to Rosso City to reclaim his territory, and take revenge on the family that had betrayed him.

OTHER DETAILS:

• As a legendary powered, he ages considerably slower than normal. Despite being in his sixties, he is physically much younger.
• He possesses a pair of massive feathered wings that can actually retract into his back at will. It is painful releasing/retracting them, but he prefers this over keeping them exposed at all times.
• The markings around his eyes are natural, not makeup.
• His hair (particularly the wavy 'white' sections) actually react to his mood, will flare up slightly like a bird when emotional.
