A friendly smile for everyone, Cheri learned charisma from his parents. He's friendly and flirtatious, and falls in and out of love very easily. He always sees the positive of a situation, given that not much in his life has ever gone wrong. Cheri thrives around people, and enjoys being the center of attention. On the flip side, Cheri has little real world experience, and is incredibly naive and trusting. His interests in both hobbies and people are mercurial and ever-shifting. And due to his wealthy background, Cheri expects only the best of anything since that's what he's been given his entire life.

To Strangers & Acquaintances

Upon first meeting Cheri, one may find him to be rather air-headed. Cheri likes to compliment and flirt with everyone around him, and seems to expect everyone to like him in return. He can be a lot to be around, as Cheri constantly wheels between situations, slipping in and out of topics and conversations with ease. Cheri is always smiling, no matter the countenance of the person he's speaking to. His spoiled nature shows through quite easily, as Cheri confidently expects people to cater to him and he spends money like it's paper.

To Friends & Family

Cheri's personality doesn't change much once one befriends him. He wears his heart on his sleeve - and this is a fact people close to him will know well. Cheri gets crushes like he breathes, and his heart breaks just as easily. When Cheri's sad, he'll complain at length, and when he's happy, all his friends will know. As ever-changing as Cheri's hobbies and interests are, he tries to share them with his friends and get interested in what his loved ones like. His love languages are quality time and words of affirmation, learned from his parents who were busy people. Cheri always has time for his loved ones, and always has kind words for them.

History

TL;DR. Cheri Stolas is born to three old money, rich Devils, and subsequently spoiled as he grows up. He eventually winds up as a waiter at his father's restaurant. As a sheltered child, Cheri has very little worldly experience, and doesn't see the point in forging his own path in life.

Family

Cheri Stolas was born to Agimat Balis, Thallo Eiar, and Phoenix Stolas. All three are Devils, progeny of Devil parents, with roots in the history of the world. They are old money of old money families, and this lap of luxury was how Cheri grew up.

Agimat Balis was the product of a rags-to-riches story. His human ancestors were Philippine farmers, then immigrants to a new world, who were lucky enough to make it big in a churning industry. With quite a bit of wealth, the Balis eventually relocated in the city of Paradise. Though farmers in the past, the Balis family now pursues the culinary arts, though they have strong roots in agriculture still, as the demand for food has never waned. Agimat is the proud owner and chef-de-cuisine of a high-end restaurant, named The Carver's Kitchen.

Thallo Eiar is the upcoming heiress of the Eiar family, who trace their roots back to wealth Greek merchants. Through time, the Eiars have remained steadfast, making profit from every opportunity. In the present day, Thallo Eiar resides in Paradise with her loves while travelling around the world as she manages her fashion line. Thallo is the designer and owner of her company, Eiar Fashions, which designs haute couture and other luxury wear. Though not as popular as other luxury brands, Thallo prides herself on beautiful designs.

Phoenix Stolas has the history of the Stolas family behind her. The Stolas family have always been visionaries, inventors, and creatives. Phoenix is the oldest child in a family with a strong legacy of demonic blood, and an even greater legacy of being cutthroat about their fame. Phoenix has her hands full of all her family's industries - art museum curation, cinema direction, literature publishing, music production, and so much more. Though Phoenix does not own any business of her own, by nature of being the eldest Stolas affords her quite a share in each company.

The happy throuple lives in the suburbs of Paradise, in a large home that could nearly be called a mansion. Though none of them are married to each other, mostly to disregard the legal hurdles and the question of who-marries-who, Agimat has always wanted children. Thallo and Phoenix were mostly ambivalent - Thallo because she had a company to consider and Phoenix because she already had so many nieces and nephews.

Many discussions later, the three decided to have children. Agimat and Thallo became the child's biological parents, and Phoenix got the rights to naming the baby. Cheri, lifted directly from French, for dear, as this child would surely be the dearest thing the three would ever know. Stolas, to give him something of Phoenix's.

Agimat would shamelessly spoil Cheri, his precious son. Thallo and Phoenix would be close behind. Thallo's heart was given to Agimat and Phoenix, but she found more to give to her baby. Phoenix simply delighted in having a child of her own.

Childhood

Cheri was the beloved child of the household. Agimat, Thallo, and Phoenix wanted only the best for Cheri, and gave him only the best. Though they all had busy schedules, they tried their best to be at home, with Cheri - if only one of them could be with Cheri at all times, that was the best case scenario.

Even so, their schedules conspired to send them apart, and Cheri spent plenty of time alone. As a young child, this didn't bother him often. He had nannies to look after him, and young children are not often fussy when given attention, which Cheri got from whomever was looking after him that day.

Cheri grew closer to Agimat than either of his mothers, primarily because Agimat's schedule was less inclined to shift compared to Thallo's or Phoenix's. Thallo often had to travel between locations or hole herself up in her office whenever a problem came through, and Phoenix had to travel to different sets and essentially vanished for weeks or months at a time. Meals were eaten with only one parent present - that parent was often Agimat, who liked to have Cheri with him in the kitchen.

Agimat made lessons of their time together. What's the difference between the taste of lemon and the taste of lime? What do you do when you've added too much salt to the dish? What does this spoonful taste like and what ingredients were in it? Cheri's childhood toys were the flavors of cuisine, instead of the video games and Saturday cartoons other kids favored. He loved to stand in the kitchen, with a too-long apron tied on, watching as his itay's deft hands created beautiful plates of food.

As he got older, and his grasp on morals firmer, Agimat's lessons turned into those of business and morality. Think for yourself, know all sides of the situation, do your best with the options you chose, never forget there are always more choice. Cheri didn't understand these as easily - morals are not something you can hone - but Agimat's puzzles of logic were often supported by Phoenix's bedtime stories.

Phoenix, when she was around, loved to simply tell Cheri stories. Whether that be the latest novel through the Stolas publishing house or the plot of the latest Stolas filmed movie, Phoenix had a never ending wellspring of content to draw from. With music on and hours ahead of her, Phoenix wove stories for a Cheri nestled at her side. Cheri was treated to stories that most children his age were not meant to hear, but Phoenix was of the opinion that honesty is the best teacher.

Thallo, who was much busier than her loves, couldn't spare as much time, but tried her best nonetheless. She let Cheri draw in her office, and show her the results, the characters and outfits he scribbled with crayons. She made clothing for Cheri, and told him how lovely he looked, and never failed to tell Cheri how much she loved him.

As a child, Cheri rarely, if ever, left the house. Demands to play outside were met with letting him tumble around the gardens. His schooling was handled entirely by hired tutors who came to the residence. Cheri's free time was filled with time with his parents or indoor pastimes. His entire world consisted of himself, his three parents, the rotating cast of people who were paid to wait on him hand and foot.

Adolescence

When Cheri reached his teens, he was still content with his situation. Because now, his parents were testing his aptitude and skill for their various professions - and of course, taking him with them to their places of work, which meant more time with his parents, which meant Cheri was content. Due to the immense wealth of his family, Cheri never wanted for any physical object or attention, but he always wanted more time.

Agimat was devasted to find Cheri's skill in the kitchen was non-existent, and nearly become inconsolable for a week. Cheri's honed palate could distinguish almost every ingredient in a dish and determine where it originated, but he set a pot of water on fire as he attempted to boil it. Agimat was quick to assure Cheri this was no failing on his part, that Cheri would ever be his beloved son, but Cheri felt rather bad about the situation anyways. He couldn't cook, so he wormed his way into his itay's kitchen to taste-test, and help Agimat put together menus.

Thallo tried to introduce Cheri to the world of fashion, but he balked at it. He didn't understand fashion, and though he could imagine up designs, they weren't the kind of trend-setters that the industry demanded. Thallo kissed Cheri on his forehead and declared there was nothing for it but modelling. Cheri balked at that too - the rigor and stress of modelling was not something he wanted to do. But a few pictures here and there for his mitera's magazine, and a few fancy outfits now and then for some obscure party she dragged him to? That was fine.

The least demanding of them was Phoenix. Creativity was not something that could be demanded, and who knew what would or would not become the next big hit? Instead, Phoenix took Cheri on trips with her. She often flew out for meetings and to visit movie sets, and she made field trips of them for Cheri. As studied as she was, Phoenix often lectured Cheri about the culture and history of the country they were visiting. Cheri liked travelling, and liked being at his mama's side even more. He didn't have too many visions to create, he just liked hearing them.

He loved and hated all of the professions his parents hoped he'd follow them into - they were geniuses of their fields, and expected a genius of Cheri. Cheri didn't have the same drive they had. He'd been given everything he'd ever wanted, and saw no use in working in a career he'd never really use, out-shadowed by his parents.

Turned freshly eighteen, Cheri wasted several years at college, obtained a bachelor's degree in business, and promptly quit schooling. He mostly wanted to eat good food and hear interesting stories again, and went wandering back to his parents. Agimat was quick to offer Cheri a job at The Carver's Kitchen where Cheri took up the job of waiter.

Present

Cheri enjoyed work at Agimat's restaurant. It had none of the rush and panic of commercial restaurants. It was a sleek and elegant job that required a great amount of physical work - but once again, Cheri could eat good food and hear interesting stories. And this time, he could weave a few of them too.

His upbringing and parentage made him incredibly suited to charming the rich people who entered his workplace. He could talk about fashion and the latest media, and commiserate over business deals and politics. Cheri found the value of a pleasant smile, which he affixed to his face every day before work. All his life he had been surrounded by the knowledge of magic and souls, and it was fascinating to be in a world where his horns and tail were hidden.

Cheri has little need for human souls - after all, anything he wants his parents will give him. Never having experienced that rush, Cheri doesn't care much for it. Why would he make crossroads deals when he doesn't have to, after all? Cheri takes humans as they come, and delights in the fact that they are people.

Of course, there were the rude humans, but overall Cheri found humans just so amazing. He had lived under his parents' wings all his life, never once interacting with the world at large - and the world at large seemed to be teeming with humans. Cheri found they were just like him, and he fell in love quickly. He loves how hedonistic humans can be, how they have seen so many things, and especially how humans fawn over him.

His love was the love of an outsider. Cheri did not consider himself to be part of society, since his wealth and demonic heritage set him apart. When he saw people, he saw them like he was standing behind glass, spectating an exhibit. Many humans could be bought with money, but just as many couldn't.

Cheri had never been unable to obtain something before. It thrilled and frustrated him to no end.
