History: Ada arrived on the planet via a small pod. The spacecraft had been floating around for who knows how long, holding a cryogenically frozen egg safely within. It likely showed up by happenstance and was damaged on planetfall. The glass windshield was cracked, but majorly still intact. It took a winter, with ice seeping into the crevice, to break the seal. Come summer, the egg thawed along with everything else. From there, it was discovered by animals that chipped away at the remaining glass until it they could get through. Before it could be eaten, it was collected by a large bird of prey, which took it back to its nest. It was likely meant to feed the raptor's chicks, but it seemed to forget why it brought it up there. As a result, Ada hatched in the nest a few days later

Despite looking strange, Ada...did have wings. Thus, the eagle raised her for a while. When it came time for the chicks to leave the nest, Ada had learned to fly, but was too young to take care of herself. If she was a human, that is. While she occasionally visited her 'mother', the baby took to living in the piney woods below. She foraged, hunted, ate raw meat, and lived in a little burrow beneath a leaning tree

After several years of roughing it, Ada was discovered by the son of a rich author. The kid had been drug along by his dad to live isolated for a while while he gathered inspiration for a novel he was working on. If that wasn't bad enough, he found a nigh naked child wandering around that looked like she might eat him. Ada did no such thing, but was curious due to this creature looking more like her than the eagles did. Unsure of what else to do, he brought her back to his father's camp. So baffling was this discovery that it completely canceled the trip. They packed up to return to the man's large, isolated home, taking Ada with them

It took a couple years to 'domesticate' Ada, but she was overall willing to learn. The author and his children made an attempt to figure out if somebody'd lost their kid, but were also quite hesitant. She did have...abnormal features. They were somewhat afraid that being seen with her would lead to people thinking the family experimented on children or something such as that. Thankfully, they were already fairly reclusive, so Ada didn't end up being too horribly restricted. She didn't really get what the big deal was, though

Details: The place she lives in (the author's house) is a large, mansion-adjacent building out in the woods. It's got a lot of dark browns and is pretty dusty. It's been filled with objects of interest such as taxidermy animals, globes, and fancy pianos. Said objects don't...necessarily have to be valuable, though. There's a notable chest full of plastic gems and a tangle of yo-yos one could kill a man with ▎Ada's been capable of flight since she was under a year old. As such, she's quite skilled ▎With her slit pupils, she can see very well in the dark and through grass. She's a poor at vertical tracking, though. Win some, lose some ▎She seems to have a very high functioning memory. She's able to remember her time with the eagles and sleeping a very long time before that. Since she never saw the spacecraft she came from, she's unaware of its presence ▎Generally uncaring about 'what-ifs' such as debates on where she came from or why she looks like she does. It's how it is, so there's no sense in wondering about it ▎
