Past

Born into a good family, the first few years of Adrian's life could not have been better. He adored his younger twin brother Atticus, a shiny Ho-Oh, and nothing could ever seperate the two. At least that's what they believed, until one day when Atticus was abducted by a group unknown men. Despite hearing his brother's cries for help, the Lugia was too young and too afraid to come to his aid. He stayed hidden, paralyzed by fear, until he could hear the men's car drive off into the distance. Although he immediately ran to his parents as if his life depended on it, it was already too late. Despite a large-scale search operation being initiated and the local news' coverage of Atticus' disappearance, he was never found.

Life began to change for Adrian. While his family was full of hope at first of finding their lost son, each passing week diminished it before crushing desperation settled in. His parents began fighting with each other, their fights growing more frequent as time went on. They never said it to the Lugia's face, but he could feel the guilt of his cowardice weighing down on him. His family broke apart because of him. At last, his parents filed for divorce and Adrian moved away with his mother, far away from his hometown. Trying her best to move on, she married another man in spite of Adrian's protests. He couldn't tell if it was an inability or an unwillingness to let go of the past - either way, Adrian grew into a bitter and rebellious teenager,  always getting into arguments with his stepfather. The man tried to be sympathetic at first, before he grew tired of the Lugia's antics and signed him up for a bootcamp.

The harsh training and strict regime straightened him out for the most part. Though most importantly, it didn't leave him any time to sulk over his lost brother. Around the time he returned home, unexpected news were awaiting him. Atticus, long believed dead, had been found and brought back to them. There hadn't been a happier moment in Adrian's life, but the joy was short-lived. His twin had changed - he refused to open up to them and falsely believed they've all happily moved on without him. Not matter how hard the Lugia tried to get through to him, his words fell on deaf ears. Helplessly, he had to watch him turn into a violent criminal and nothing he did could save him. A last desperate attempt to bring the Ho-Oh back to his senses ended in a bloody fight, and the younger twin leaving town for good. Again, Adrian lost the person who meant the world to him.

After high school graduation, perhaps in an attempt to find redemption, Adrian served in the army and moved up through the ranks before landing a good position in the navy. He stayed there a couple decades, until he was requested by the government to play a lead role in a special operation that involved his brother, who'd become an influential crimelord by then. He's supposed to find hard evidence against him and bring him to justice. Considering their relationship, he was the most suitable one for the job. Taking this chance to bring an end to what he'd begun, Adrian worked relentlessly to stop his brother. However, Atticus always managed to stay a step ahead of him. At last, an anonymous call delivered the evidence necessary to end his criminal career and Adrian could finally be at peace with himself. For his excellent work, he was offered to continue working for the secret service and keep Rosso City safe. While new gangs have arisen from the ashes of the fallen Messiah gang, casualties could be kept at minimum.

Twenty years of relative peace had passed, when the Lugia received information of his brother's return. Knowing that nothing would stop him on his path for vengeance, Adrian was determined to bring him down for good, even if it meant they have to go down together.
