Personality
Damien is a quiet man whose enthusiasm shines through his research. He's pleasant to get along with, and quite energetic once he's gotten himself comfortable in a conversation.
After his incident, It's like all that is gone. His heart beats and his body moves, but it's like there's nothing inside anymore.
Backstory
Damien worked under Etcher at Cape co, with his team primarily focusing in differentiating the states of magic. Their working theory at the time was that magic comprised two states, one positive and one negative (with a theoretical third, neutral state.) Damien had been looking into extracting and storing this energy into a physical form. Unfortunately for him, the vessel he had stored the magic in blows up in his face, killing him and half his team.

Etcher and Jacey sees his body, head lolled and limp against the wall, half of his skull blown apart by the impact of the vessel. It's an injury no one would be able to live through, his remaining eye glancing sightlessly into the air. And yet, in the next few seconds, his head repairs itself, sucking in the blood and tissue splattered onto the nearby wall.
His limbs spasm for moments, and then he breathes again. Although his eyes and legs were destroyed, eaten by the acid-like magic that now resided in his body, it also revived and kept him alive.
It takes time for him to come back. Everything, motor skills, memories, habits, everything that makes him, well, him. But something's off.
Magic
He's unable to use magic. A part of him always felt like he had an affinity for it, feeling the ebb and flow of the energy in the air. It seemed like there was an instinct, but not the skill, so he's never been able to actually perform spells.
He never used magic before his accident. But after he got hit with an unstable vessel of magic, the energy seemed to have latched onto his body.
He was vegetative for the first week, then something inside him seemed to build inside him. The magic he got hit with had gained sentience through absorbing his memories, and is slowly rebuilding him from the ground up.
There's not much of him there right now, but he'll come back. He just needs some time.
No visible magic flair, but black acidic goo leaks from his empty eye socket whenever it is in use.
Relationships (currently linked to Artfight profiles because it's the most updated versions)
Jacey - Friend, (eventually, romantic partner as well), as Etcher's aide, Jacey would help oversee a lot Damien's experiments. She'd always be there, listing off safety procedures and equipment requirements, helping him set up and clean up.
Roque - Partner, the both of them worked extremely closely together during Damien's experiments, with Roque providing the magical energy to run them. They used to talk a lot about their results together, discussing them late into the night.
Etcher - Boss, sponsor. Damien's interest of magic was encouraged by Etcher, and he had respected her before the accident. But after watching him die and come back, she's been... different.

- the burns on his face are something akin to acid burns. It also leaks black goo when ever 'he' decides to 'use' 'magic'. The black goo was what gave him those burns, but his body adapted to it so it doesn't anymore.
- i think it would be funny when damien finally gets his personality back and is like 'fuck i need to do more experiments on this. this is a breakthrough.'
