Before high school, Yumiko was the definition of a wallflower: painfully shy, stayed out of the way of others, and barely talked to anyone outside of her immediate family. Her focus for most of her childhood was learning about archery and training to eventually become an expert in the martial art like her mother and her maternal ancestors, with schoolwork being her close second priority.

   Come her second year in high school after a whole spring break of discovering and reading works from the sapphic sub-genre of shoujo manga, though, her whole attitude flipped. Her timid frown from before the break was replaced with an easygoing smile. She was suddenly talking a lot more in a day than she did in a month just last year, and when she spoke, she often came across as uncanny, awkward, or even rude to others. This shift in her demeanor was part of her attempt to emulate the cool and confident characters she had read about and admired, but her being slow to read a room in tandem with her being more of an introvert at heart has lead to... mixed results that she has not yet realized are mixed.
